If we’re as good as most pre-season mags suggest, we deserve to have at least a 3rd-team QB…whoever that turns out to be.

Exactly. I don’t fault any publication for not listing a Miami QB in their preseason rankings.

Also the starter in CFB 27. Not entirely meaningful either, but worth noting. I still hope it’s McComb.

On the plus side, we’ve shown that we don’t need a competent QB to win football games. Chuck has won a lot of games pounding the rock, having great STs, and solid defense. Won a championship with Aveon Smith completing less than 50% of his passes, and made it to one with Finn quitting halfway through the season, and Hesson and Gotkowski combining for the worst QBR in all of the FBS.
So at this point, I’m confident that in spite of our options, we’ll still manage to compete for another trip to Ford Field. And if somehow Gotkowski miraculously rises to the level of mediocrity or McComb comes in and surprises us, then the sky’s the limit.
We’ve spent enough on this roster to demand better than the wishbone.

Just saying, we managed to get to Mac title games with the statistically worst QB play in all of FBS, so if we can rise the level of the position to just mediocre/average, it could be a special season. 2-2 OOC / 6-2 MAC should be the baseline at this point.
