Does anyone know if our arena project will qualify for funding from the same source as new Cleveland Browns stadium?
The new Ohio state budget makes $1.7 billion available for athletic and cultural facilities in the state.
It sounds like the new arena should be eligible.
Huge boost for getting it financed if this applies.
Regardless of whether or not this is a good idea, I’d think that the Browns and Bengals will be the biggest recipients by far. That said, our arena request would be far smaller and DeWine being an alum probably doesn’t hurt our case if we’re eligible.
Not sure if it makes much of a difference. The funds would have to be repaid to the state so it’s just a loan in a different form. Maybe saves a little on bond interest.
Are those claimed funds specified for recreation, or did the state just blow a billion dollars on a barely regional entertainment venue?

Hmmm … Browns need State and County help to pay for a stadium but can afford $230M for a QB.
Neither of which fit the Browns…
