more than doubled our votes.. at this rate keep winning and my guess is in 2 weeks once we murder UMASS and Sam the minuteman we’ll get there
8 coaches poll votes, up from 3
We’re probably not one of the 25 best teams in the country, but with only 49 votes, we’re still not even close to being ranked. Given this lack of respect, I think it’s clear that we better win 3 in Cleveland, or we’re staying home.
We’re one of the 5 best teams in the country.
We’re getting more respect from the AP voters than our NET or 364th ranked SOS suggest we should. While I really want that top 25 ranking just to say we got it, I’m pretty satisfied with doubling our vote total based on smoking Toledo. And, ultimately, being ranked is not the metric I’ll use to define this season’s successful; it would be a cool footnote to underscore the team’s accomplishments.
We have 2 winnable home games this week. Let’s keep it up and we’ll get over the hump immediately.
Kenpom has our SOS at 347, which is still bad but not as bad as 364, Georgia is ranked with the 236 ranked SOS and SLU is higher than us receiving votes with the 297 ranked SOS and neither of those teams are undefeated
What would be great if we win our next 3 and get ranked by the time our students get back on campus
I think it’s our non-conference SOS that’s 364.
I’m surprised we are not getting any love from Seth Davis. He typically rants about the dwindling number of mid-majors in the tournament.
Only number that continues to matter to me is 0. As in 0 losses!!
At least Jablonski at DDN is giving us the homer bump ranking us 23rd. The other Ohio voter is an Ohio St football beat writer that hasn’t tweeted once about basketball, who’s got us unranked. Unclear why he’s a basketball voter.
Connor Earegood and Brenden Martin are excellent journalists. That is all.
Also worth noting that while we are behind in total votes to them, we actually appear on more voter’s cards (19) than Iowa (12) and Kansas (18). We really only need to get the attention of 6 or 7 more voters and then just wait as we rise up people’s cards as we win and others lose. May get there next week. Will definitely get there if we go 4-0 over the next two.
I believe we’ve broken the record for most amount of wins being undefeated without being ranked
This website breaks down our seeding and other stuff based on how many wins we get
I’m not sure how much we can lean into analytics. This team is pretty unique historically. There really aren’t a ton of historical analogues (teams with 0 Q1 games, 0 power conference opponents, an actual bottom 5 NCSOS, and a chance at 29 or 30 regular season wins).
The Utah State 3 loss season where they didn’t get in probably the closest, not sure where their SOS ranked but couldn’t be worse (literally).
How is it determined who gets to be an AP voter?
And can it be done by anyone.
Put another way, should I ask my doctor if being an AP voter is right for me?
