16 BYU, 10 MSU, and 6 Gonzaga all lost today
AP TOP 25 WEEKEND LOSSES
#3 UCONN
#4 DUKE
#5 ILLINOIS
#15 VANDERBILT
#16 BYU (Second loss this week)
Predicting that Miami moves up to #21
Vandy is 6-4 in 2026…how much more grace can they get?
Bunch of losers.
I think 21 would be our highest ranking we’ve ever had.
According to basketball reference, we were ranked 19th in 77-78, 20th in 70-71, and 12th in 52-53.
Sorry, I should have said post expansion. No disrespect to the 1950’s team ranked 12, but there simply weren’t as many D1 teams playing then. I think there might almost be 400 today so being 20 (or around there) puts us in the top 5%.
The current total makes it very easy to remember. I believe there are 365 division 1 men’s basketball teams.
Gets a little bit tricky because there are currently D2 schools playing that are transitioning to D1. Also, the ncaa recently shortened the number of years that process takes so given the relatively “affordable” economics of hoops, I suspect we will see even more.
I would think those teams are too far ahead of us for us to pass them? Maybe BYU since they lost twice, but losing to Houston shouldn’t hurt too much.
I actually think we arent going to move like a normal team. I think we are going to be ranked 25th by a lot of voters every week because we are undefeated but they really dont think we deserve it
Last week we had 32 voters rank us between 12-24, 14 at 25 and 13 not rank us. I don’t think we can rise that much higher, but clearly most voters are willing to put us above 25. And I’ll be interested to see how many new voters rank us this week.
Maybe 2 road wins will count for a little more this week
BYU has lost 4 in a row and 5 of 6. We should pass them.
Arizona plays #11 Kansas tonight so could be only one undefeated team left.
Go Jayhawks!
The game is at Kansas too!!
Remaining 23
But we did go from 170 votes to 195. So that is an improvement. And only 3 behind BYU.
