Some of us have wanted us to play slower to minimize our deficiencies of transition defense and lateral quickness. Well, we got a matchup against one of the slower teams in Division 1 that didn’t look to push the ball and look what happened. We gave up next to nothing in transition. The slower pace kept our turnovers down and allowed us to play at a comfortable pace, letting the offense work. I think we need to do everything in our power to slow the game down.

We also have a bit of a short bench right now, so playing slower could help limit issues with fatigue and foul trouble.

Well so much for Kent moving into the top 25. About to lose to NIU

NIU pulled away in the last minutes and won 84-76. David Coit with 32 points. Akron and Kent are tied for the lead.

I had a work dinner so I missed it tonight. Noticed on the box score only 1620 in attendance at Akron tonight

Just watched. Probably our best defensive effort this year. Yes, we gave a lot of open 3 point looks, but we had to cover down low. As noted by others, some really bad calls. Safford looks very fluid–he is deceptively quick. It’s clear that Coach told him to be more assertive on offense, and I’d like to see more of it. We did have some bad T/O’s. Overall, the effort was very good and I thought the team deserved to win this one.
