They weren’t going anyway.
They were only 2 wins away last year
So… status quo?
I am shocked this is still a rule - if I was Akron I would sue the ncaa about it
Academic Performance Program penalties to return for 2024-25 - NCAA.org Here is the program
Rub it in Kent.
I’m no lawyer, but seems like a very high chance that a Big Ten/SEC program would sue to end the rule next time one is affected. NCAA has been losing in court like Kent football so it’d be worth a shot from their POV.

If anyone is interested, here are the calculations used for APR. I had always thought that transfers harmed the program, but it appears it is only transfers out that are academically ineligible. I think it might limit Akron’s practice time as well which has to be used toward academic time. Sounds like they should increase BOTH their practice time and academic time. What a mess for Akron and recruiting. Also, this is a bit embarrassing for the MAC.

Should we be concerned about the trend?
If I recall, we used to be ranked highly and up there with the service academies in the past.
If any sort of transferring impacts APR, they should just do away with it entirely with the current portal structure.
Considering that half of the points are for retention, I think transfers do have a negative effect.
No, not as long as they were on track to get their degree when transferring:
1 point for progress and 1 point for retention. So any transfer forgoes the 1 point. So you “lose” at least 1 point for transfers.
No, that’s wrong. You earn back the retention point based on the degree progress
