#5-Credit Where Credit Is Due

OU beat Kent last night 40-0. Are you saying we can’t do just as well? I call that a blow out.

Yep, that’s what I am saying. We may win and probably will win comfortably, but I don’t believe it will be an EARLY blowout.

Obviously we should murder them but we also slept through a 19-0 MACtion home game against Akron last year and they were equally horrible.

That game last year was 19-0 but it might as well have been 190-0.

I think you’re underrating how bad Kent is, they’ve “accomplished” the following this year:

-Lost to a 3-6 FCS team
-6 of their 8 FBS losses have been by 19+ points, 5 by 31+ points
-Ranked 210 on Sagarin, last in FBS and behind two non-scholarship Pioneer League teams
-ESPN only gives them a 24% chance of beating a lousy Akron team at home in two weeks

If we win by only 21 or so I’m not gonna call for Chuck’s head or anything, but on paper this is a team we should beat like BG or Akron when they had Jinks or Arth. Let’s get a 30+ point lead in the second half so we can let the backups play the 4th as a near-scrimmage.

Kent fucking sucks.

If Kent plays the freshman QB they started last night, Miami should be able to name the score. Their rushing attack couldn’t get out of the backfield because OU knew the kid was almost a zero threat to complete a pass so they sold out on the run. Kent’s defense isn’t good either, but the score was worse because OU ran back Botha KO and punt for TDs.

Updated conference stats for #5. Gabbert now leads the MAC in passing efficiency rating at 163.1. He also leads the conference in TD passes with 15. And has the 2nd fewest INT with 1.

83 Comp 146 Attempts Comp Per. 56.8% Yards 1282 YPG 213.7
15 TDS 1 INT Long 75 Efficiency 163.1

Updated conference-only stats for Brett Gabbert, through the 8 regular season conference games. Gabbert continues to lead the MAC in passing efficiency.

Comp 115 Att 197 TDS 18 INT 4 Comp % 58.4 Yards 1744 Long 75 PYG 218.0 Efficiency 158.8

Question, as I, like many on this board, have been critical of his play at times, including the two very bad picks he threw yesterday. Is there another MAC QB you would rather have in place of Gabbert? My answer is No. But I am curious how others feel.

I don’t think Brett was completely back to normal physically or mentally in the early games this season. But since they started their winning streak, he’s the best QB in the conference, and I’m not sure it’s close.

Who is the #2 QB in the conference? It’s Brett in the top spot and then a bunch of dudes jumbled together behind him.

Probably bazelak, maybe Navarro

He’s the conference player of the year. Period.

That is interesting, given Gabbert just beat Bazelak, and outplayed him, and against Navarro and OU, Miami won and Gabbert threw 3 TD and 0 INT. I am not criticizing you for picking them over Gabbert (if that is what you were doing, or maybe you were saying one of these 2 is 2nd to Gabbert, as that wasn’t clear), but interesting if you pick them over Gabbert.

I read it as Navarro or Bazelak for the 2nd spot.

I think you are misreading it

I believe he meant 2nd and or 3rd.

Yes as others were saying, I was responding to the question about who would be the 2nd best QB in the conference

Fair enough. And that is why I mentioned I wasn’t clear.

Well the MAC is giving Gabbert credit where credit is due:
