Trick, Bell, Jobe!
I’ve been seeing this all season from Mellor and while it’s awesome, Trick, Jobe, and Bell are all edge rushers. Someone tell me what I’m missing.
You’re not missing anything, but seemingly Mellor is.
That is a big gap between Trick and everybody else!
It is like being in two different universes.
I’m not gonna look up every guy on the list, but I know for a fact at least a couple of them are DTs. But obviously Trick, Bell and Jobe have been edge rushers all season. So this guy’s data is a mess, and should probably be disregarded. If you’re grading for pass rush and TFL, a DE’s numbers will be much different than a DT. And he’s mixing them all up and calling it an “interior linemen” list.
It’s likely just an AI computer algorithm, and this Cam Mellor just copied and pasted the list to twitter without doing even the most cursory research.
Hey our guys are ranked. That is all that matters!
Ha! That’s fair. We’ll take it.
Regardless, Trick passes the eye test even if you ignore advanced analytics. I’d be surprised if he didn’t make All-MAC by my estimate.
He is definitely ALL-MAC! The only question is whether he will be MAC Defensive POY!
Does Trick have a chance of getting drafted? I don’t get a chance to watch many football games.
Chuck made an interesting comment in the recruiting class presser yesterday about how so many of the guys who portaled, took the money and moved up to P4 really didn’t see much PT after that or much on field success. It will be interesting to see what Trick does. Undoubtedly he will be sought after. The closest and most recent corollary to Trick I can think of is Caiden Woullard, similar position and stats, but a slightly bigger physically player, who portaled to Oklahoma and saw little PT after that. I’m not suggesting what Trick should or shouldn’t do, he is a great player, but he might consider what happened to Caiden.
That was the story last year for most of the guys who transfered up. This year;
- Virgil is the #2 receiver at TTU + eligibility for 2026
- Jados looks like a regular starter at TTU
- Tracy #2 at Minnesota + eligibility for 2026
- Strader had some pt but not sure if he was injured or benched. + eligibility for 2026
Anyone with 1 year of eligibility it’s a big risk, which it was for a guy like Woullard.
Adam Trick is definitely the best Interior defensive lineman in the country. No doubt about it. According to Cam Mellor’s stats, Trick is also the best CB in the nation. After all, he has not allowed a reception to a wide receiver all season.
Pretty sure CM alluded to Strader in the presser yesterday, as he definitely mentioned Auburn.
mustve missed that
Woullard was a potential MAC defensive POY if he had stayed at Miami. That alone probably would have attracted the interest of NFL scouts.
I think that was CM unstated point.
Hope he stays. Hope all our players stay. The MAC has had some great draft picks over the years. He can be a legend.
