“In past years we would be concerned about so much football causing injuries and playing havoc with academics, since final examale usually in December. How quaint. That’s like worrying about killer bees and the millenium bug. Money has always been prominent in all college sports, of course. But life looks very different when money goes from a big thing to the only thing.”
Sad to see how much the landscape has changed due to chasing the $$$
As long as a zero or 1 loss Miami has a real shot to play meaningful post season games, which the 24 team format should do as an undefeated or 1 loss MAC champ “should” be in the top 24, then I’m happy with the system. Totally mediocre NFL teams make the playoff each year and that doesn’t diminish the Super Bowl.
HH-you should respond to Mark Whicker-he is on Twitter. He writes on the business of college athletics. As does an attorney I know, Mit Winter in Kansas City. Ask them their thoughts on mid majors chasing the dollars, and see their thoughts. Seriously.
Agree! An undefeated or 1 loss MAC champ should make a 24 team playoff. Once you get to 2+ losses then probably not.
I would imagine they are against it?
24 is too much. 16 with 2 rounds of home field games. Auto-bids for top 6 conferences. Cap of 4 invites for any one conference.
