2026 Transfer Portal (MIAMI NEWS ONLY)

I thought there had been talk of redshirting Fresh. However, that was before the departures of Elmer and Perry.

=>Bigs do not dominate as frosh in the MAC.

TPo was 2.1pts and 1.3 rbs as a frosh.

Dierkers 1.2 ppg and 0.8 rbs.

Mavunga 3.4 and 2.2

Romeo Travis 7.6 and 5.4 rbs.

Frosh stats of MAC Bigs who made NBA the last 15 Years:

Copeland’s 4.6ppg and 4.4 rbs per game measure well.

$1M+ for centers. Major donors need to pony up the cash.

Would love to add White.

I’m hoping we enter conference play something like 12-1 with two quad 1 wins and a Q1 loss at the buzzer in the great MTE we better fucking get into next year.

Given how the program is in a much better state now than when we got Woolfolk here, I was initially disappointed that we couldn’t get a more heralded big man. Thinking about it now I like it more with how competitive the market is, and the kind of transfers the rest of MAC is getting.

Steele has said that last spring’s practices were incredible, finishing the roster so early has to be an advantage in planning the spring (along with the schedule and anything relating to the arena).

Pumped to have Luke and Evan make announcements. Best backcourt in the MAC!

Much to be excited about.

No one in here was doing backflips (myself included) when we grabbed a 10 pt per game scorer from a bad Bellermine team two years ago. That worked out pretty darn well.

Stowers is big guard who is more of a slasher/driver than a shooter. Steele is very high on him. I think there’s a good chance we will all be very pleasantly surprised by him.

Wisconsin at the top is a mess right now. No AD and others have stepped down. For Eian’s sake I hope he is looking at other places as well.

I would have to think Stowers if healthy is in the wing rotation, and my prediction is Horton gets minutes this year at PF/C and gives us positive contributions.

It is true about the AD but the Wisconsin basketball coach is still there and they were a 5 seed this year. I would take Wisconsin over Penn State by a wide margin

I wasn’t comparing the two. I love how my comment solely about Wisconsin, gets turned into something completely different.

What I like about Copeland:

  1. Active around the glass
  2. Makes himself available on the offensive end in the paint
  3. Moves without the ball
  4. Decent length shot blocking

No idea if he can shoot beyond 10 feet from the basket, all I saw was a baby hook, dunks and layups.

If he can give us 8-10 ppg and 6 boards, and play solid D I will be happy. Needs to improve his FT shooting. He has a role to play. He just needs to play it. He is not and will not be the focal point of our offense.

Agree on all points here. He’s a rim runner/lob guy on offense and with Skally and Ipsaro running pick and roll with him I foresee a lot of opportunities around the rim for him. Looks like he’s got a little bit of a post-game, but that still needs some development. And to be honest, true, one on one post touches are pretty uncommon in our offense, so that skillset isn’t critical.

On defense, he looks long, mobile and athletic. No idea what kind of rim protector he will be. Woolfolk’s best trait on defense was his positioning and his instincts. He was never in the wrong place and was constantly causing deflections. That will take time for Copeland to develop, but I believe the staff can get him there.

I recall from his videos that Horton also looked very agile around the rim…I thought at the time that his footwork for a 6-9 high school kid was quite advanced.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Miami’s name on this list! Would fill the wing spot very nicely.

Not to disparage the Cardinals but why did Copeland end up at Ball State with those sort of offers? That must’ve been quite the exciting commitment at the time.
