2025 Miami Football Pre-season

My big concern about Wisconsin is their experience compared to ours. More than half of their roster is listed as Junior, Senior or Graduste Student.

More than half of ours is Freshman or Redshirt Freshman. That’s a huge experience gap. And they have a new QB who proved he can play last season at Maryland.

I think a win in Madison would be one of the biggest upsets in our history. I actually feel better about the possibility of beating Rutgers if we stay healthy in Madison and learn from the experience.

Let’s strap it on, fly around and shock Big 10
World again!

I have no opinion on this prediction or whatever of our offense being 135. Do I think it will be better than that? Absolutely. But I find it hard to really attack anyone over predictions when we are literally replacing 11 starters on offense, and 7 on defense, and numerous backups on both sides of the ball who contributed. One can see skepticism from the outside for those just given those bare fact numbers.

He has us ranked behind Kent. And Akron. And a bunch of terrible other teams. A lot of schools reload with all new players because of the portal but maybe the people take issue with the fact he’s has us behind schools that might win 2 games. BG in front of us as well. Eddie George might be a good coach but he’s also got a cupboard to restock.

So. CBS Sports has published its preseason bowl projections. It’s proof that the ganja being smoked by sports journalists today is way too strong. They have Miami playing LA Tech in the now non-existent Bahamas Bowl. They have first year FBS perennial FCS under .500 Missouri State (CUSA) playing Oregon State (Pac 2) in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. That prediction assumes there won’t be six bowl eligible teams from either the Sun Belt or MAC.

All I am saying is I won’t attack someone for rating us low given the massive turnover. These preseason projects don’t mean shit anyway.

We agree to agree.
But still. Kent? Balls.

Kris “Coffee Bean” Manu might be my favorite player this year.

Chuck mentioned today that we lost someone for the season. Didn’t say who.

I just got off of the phone with B at the ticket office. I needed to get two seats near my season tickets for my son and grandson. Lindenwood game. The guy was very helpful and my extra tickets were in my wallet within ten minutes. He said season tickets will be e mailed out towards the end of this week or early next. A very pleasant experience.

Any more insight on who might have been lost for the season?

No info - - asking again about the status of Hammonds, Fuller and UC transfer DL Wilson- who in the Athletic Dept can answer? These three players on paper should be in the DL mix where we are very thin.

Tonight’s opening session of Hawk Talk had severe streaming issues. Bake apologized for that later and posted a video of it. Chuck confirmed Florida State transfer WR Darion Williamson is the key player who sustained a season ending injury and has had surgery. Chuck also said Josh Lukusa has been banged up but is close to being ready.

So now both the Colorado and Florida State transfer WRs are out for the year?

The roster doesn’t show a transfer WR or TE from Colorado.

Cordale Russell, arguably the top transfer we have, is from Colorado. Maybe because he was hurt earlier in Spring he’s not on the roster?

He is staying busy!

He was listed on roster a few weeks ago and mentioned by Chuck as being out in the WR preview video.

404 Error on his roster page now. He’s a Texas guy who started his career at TCU, then moved to Colorado (injured there). Most recently the transfer to Miami and now another apparent serious injury. Tough career so far. Hoping things improve for him. Appears to be quite talented..

Yes, 2 of the top WR transfer portal guys are out for the year. This opens things wide for Isom and Weaver in particular, as bigger WR guys. There are others on the roster as well but these two, Isom and Weaver, seem particularly well positioned, to take advantage of these unfortunate injuries.

Don’t we have WR transfers from Notre Dame and Washington too?

Will be very interested in how Finn impacts opposing coverage schemes. LBs/DBs can’t hang back in coverage anymore without risking an easy 5+ yard scramble if they neglect the QB, very few 2023 MAC defenders were able to handle him 1:1 like Salopek in Detroit.
