How do they show 8 losses in the record summary?

Count the games with more than 62-percent chance of winning.
Coin toss the games with 52-55 percent chance of losing, particularly at home.
It’s interesting to see - statistically - the only games Miami is projected to lose by a pretty wide margin are against Akron and Kent State.
The MAC is ranked 18/31. I believe this is better than what they were at the end of last season
