I thought it was pretty nice that the in-laws got me a Patagonia pullover for Christmas. I never thought to ask for a point guard.

How much support are we actually getting? Like, I’m sure that there is some support, but we still had our leader in shot attempts go to a bottom tier power conference program as a role player.
No. It’s on the increasingly mercenary nature of football that doesn’t seem to have impacted hoops nearly as much. I am not aware of Power teams poaching our best basketball players and paying the $500 - $1 million to leave our program. The huge piles of cash seem to be being injected into football.
Go look at what they spent at Xavier before NIL.
Quite a bit, I believe.
I can’t say this with any certainty, but I would surmise that from an NIL perspective:

we prioritized other players over Craft. By way of just one example I’m privy to- the Byers family was NOT shy last year in Cleveland about needing to see some love from the staff in the off season and;

GT wildly overpaid relative to perceived market value for Kraft.
Back to football: If this past cycle is any indicator, I think it’s going to be increasingly difficult to add players from the portal like Ty Wise, Brian Ugwu, Corey Suttle, Michael Dowell, Keyon Mozee, Dylan Dowling, Cade McDonald, and John Young and even harder to hold onto them for 2+ years. It’s also getting hard to retain our star high school recruits longer than two seasons.
Have you noticed that the single biggest energy drain on hoops, the guy who hates Steele and thinks he needs to be fired has totally disappeared? Well, you’re welcome. See, I put up some money to the NiL to get rid of him. It cost me $12.50 and it was money well spent. I think he used the money to buy a Subway and his mouth is full of that cold cut combo goodness.
