2024 MAC Golf Championships

The MAC Men’s Golf Championship tees off tomorrow (4/26) at The Club at Chatham Hills outside Indianapolis. The RedHawks have an excellent chance to bring home the trophy this year! Kent State is still the favorite, but Miami definitely could pull off the upset if they play well.

Team is much better than last couple years. I think it’s possible as well.

Day 1 is in the books and it couldn’t have gone much better for the RedHawks! After 18 holes, they sit T1 along with Ball State at -5, and five strokes ahead of 3rd place Kent State (E). A great start for Miami!! On top of that, Sr. Captain (and fellow Lake Forest, IL resident) Danny Fisher is in 2nd place individually at -4, one shot behind Barend Botha of Toledo (Note: these guys finished 1-2 in last year’s MAC Championship, IIRC). Tomorrow is “moving day” and the RedHawks find themselves perfectly poised to take control if the boys can go low. Let’s bring home the MAC trophy!!

Day 2 was a round of “good news & bad news.” The good news is that the RedHawks had another great day on the links as a team shooting a second consecutive round of -5, to put them at -10 for the tournament. They were paced by Danny Fisher, who stayed hot by shooting a 69 (-3) to remain in 2nd place, and by teammate Michael Weber, who went low with a 67 (-5) on the day and is now tied with Danny at -7 for the tourney, 4 strokes behind the leader. The bad news for Miami is that Ball State went even lower, shooting -8 on the day to take the outright lead at -13. Fortunately, the RedHawks are still close enough that the outcome remains a two-team race (although Toledo is within shouting distance at -5…Kent State fell back to 5th place at +2). A solid day tomorrow could bring home the crown to Oxford! It’s going to be a “barn burner.” Let’s go get 'em, boys!!

It looks like we could not get in done. Finished 2nd to Ball State.

Fisher and Weber who led the team through the first two rounds had tough days while our other guys played better. We finished 5 shots back.

Between women’s tennis and golf we left 2 on the table. Bummer.

These finishes should help for Reeces’ Pieces!
