Easy peasy. A soft start to our schedule.lol

Anybody else been in that palace in Columbia. Holy cow! What a facility.

The Gamecocks’s yard and Coastal Carolina’s - complete with an outfield boardwalk with Adirondack style beach chairs and umbrellas - are the two nicest I’ve ever seen!

I remember going to see a game in 2006 when I was in AIT at Jackson

Some optimism to open the first season under the new coaching staff. Time to work our way back up to the top!

Gamecocks open at #25. Good measuring stick in the opening series to see how far we need to climb to get to a Top 25 program.

Eight teams in the Top 25 - including #1 Wake Forest - are located in the Carolinas.

Lost 5-1 to South Carolina today. Took a 1-0 lead in the first, gave up 5 runs in the second, and that was all the scoring on the night.

Had the bases loaded in the 7th with no outs and again in the 9th with two outs. Couldn’t produce a run. Solid effort in game one of the new regime.

After a decent showing Saturday, especially by Zach Maxey in long relief, the pitching collapsed early today.

Oklahoma transfer Peyton Olejnik started and couldn’t get out of the first after five walks and a hit batsman and 47 pitches. He left with the bases loaded and two out and Vardavas was pressed into relief after a frantic warmup. Vardavas walked in a run to start and then Zoborosky made an error on a ground ball and another run scored. Finally got a ground out to close the first.

RedHawks down 7-0 after 1.

Don’t look at the Box Score on this one without some Pepto Bismol.

7 inning run-rule (combined 5 USC pitchers) 14-0 no hit loss. 9 Miami hitters struck out and 4 walked. That was it.

Our seven pitchers walked 16 hitters and hit 2 in just 6 innings.

A long way to go to get back to respectable. The broadcast crew was kind to us - recognizing this as the first series in a complete rebuild. They mentioned we’d had 9 NCAA appearances but none since 2005. Sadly, that’s 19 years ago. We’ve been pretty bad for a long time now.

To use a tried and true baseball phrase: Hang wit’em!

Announced attendance at Founders Park was 6,600+. The high was 47 degrees.
