In the AP article I read about his departure, it implies that Jim L. made the decision to step down on his own, and cited comments he made about the state of today’s NCAA basketball being ruined by NIL etc.

Jimmy L was not forced out. It was his call and will have a job at the U. He made several comments in his press conference that were very similar to Tony Bennett when he retired from UVA. Essentially, college sports/NIL/portal is a complete shit show.
