Numerous mid season articles suggested that Satterfield might be fired by UL before the season was over but he survived. Perhaps the next year or two will offer is a better opportunity to beat UC during transition.
First time I can recall that a head coach leaves for a job at their bowl opponent, thatās a bit awkward. Not a great hire for UC imo.
North Texas also fires Seth Litrell right after a C-USA championship appearance.
If Satterfield doesnāt retain Kerry Coombs maybe consider hiring him as a recruiting consultant or something?? He would still be getting serious bucks from UC I would think. At his age, I donāt think he had any expectations of being named the permanent HC or DC at UC.
I would think there would also be significant advantages for Coombs from a pension perspective in getting additional years of service in the state system.
However, I think it would make sense for Satterfield to retain him for the same reasons you state.
Ok, clearly Iām only 50/50 on future coaching hires but, to be fair, the UC hire was outlandish.
Iirc. Coombs staying in the Ohio pension system was why he didnāt go to Notre dame?
That Fenway Bowl matchup is a little more interesting now.
I mentioned his name on a UC coaching search post in The Athletic last weekā¦said he lives just up Colerain Avenue, would work cheap, and probably knows UCās program as well as any other coach kn the country. A couple UC fans went ballistic. Lol
Louisvilleās Scott Sattefield to UC this morning seems quite weird to me.
NC State OC Tim Beck replaces Jamey Chadwell at Coastal.
Interesting parallel in that NC Stateās offense went downhill big time after they lost starting QB to an injury early in the seasonā¦their backup Jack Chambers was inaccurate but could runā¦NC Stateās offense sputtered until they finally gave a freshman (Morris) a shot and he came through in a couple of games but was inconsistent as you would expect.
Keep wondering if we will ever see one of our other QBās in the bowl game.
The divide between Miami and UC only continues to grow. Thatās a very substantial bump in assistant coaches $$. #endtherivalry
As I have said elsewhere, we are the five year old Kia Rio parked behind the Jags and Benz in the FBS country club parking lot.
Pete Thamel reporting that Sean Lewis is the main target to be Coloradoās new OC under Deion Sanders.
If Iām Lewis I take that and run with it and put my MAC career record of 19-17 in the rear view.
Probably would substantially increase his salary too.
Sean Lewis is a done deal
Between this and Freeze, this yearās theme is āmultiple chances for assholes.ā Wonder when Tim Beckman gets a rehab gig.
