Ok, ladies and gentleman tonight Miami goes for win 31! To cap off a perfect regular season. And where do we get to do this? On the home court of our most despised rival, the Bobkitties! Going to be some crying cats tonight! Miami has not won at OU since 1/9/11. That ends tonight! On a nationally televised contest! OU SUCKS!
The RedHawks travel to Athens for a contest against the Ohio Bobcats Friday, March 6 at 9 p.m. on ESPN2. Miami enters this game just one win shy of 1,500 program wins all time. With Tuesday’s win over Toledo, Miami secured a share or better of the MAC regular-season title for the first time since the 2004-05 season. The Red and White enter this Friday’s game as the only remaining undefeated team in the country with a 30-0 (17-0 MAC) record, its best start to a season in program history. Miami holds a new program record for wins in a season, breaking the mark of 25 established last year. The RedHawks hold the program record for most consecutive road wins overall (14) and in a season (13) as well. The Red and White have also secured the best start for a program in MAC history (originally set by WMU in 1975-76 at 19-0), the most consecutive conference wins in MAC history (originally set by Miami in 1956-57 at 16-0) and the longest win streak in MAC history (originally set by Kent State in 2001-02 at 21-0).
This Friday’s road contest against the Bobcats will be the 218th meeting between the two programs. Miami trails in the series 120-97 all-time. Miami RedHawks took down the
Bobcats 90-74 at Millett Hall on Feb. 13, 2026. Miami has not won a game at the Convocation Center since Jan. 9, 2011 in a 92-88 triple overtime game. Ohio is currently 15-15 (9-8 MAC), as the Bobcats most recently dropped to UMass (82-94) and Toledo (67-79). Last season, Ohio went 16-16 (10-8 MAC). Head coach Jeff Boals is in his seventh season with the Bobcats. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Ohio was selected to finish fourth overall in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Men’s Basketball Poll. Senior Jackson Paveletzke (16.8/game), redshirt junior Javan Simmons (14.4/game) and senior Aidan Hadaway (13.9/game) lead the Bobcats offense in points. Paveletzke has recorded the most assists (5.2/game) and Hadaway has totaled the most rebounds per game (7.5/game). Senior Ajay Sheldon leads the team in steals (1.5/game) and freshman JJ Kelly has put down the most blocks (0.9/game).
I couldn’t believe we’ve only won once in Athens since I graduated, and I’m no longer a young alumni. We broke the Toledo curse last year, time to end the Athens one.
This losing streak at OU coincides with the single worst stretch in the history of Miami Basketball. The last time we won in Athens was the last decent team Coles had. Finished 11-5 in the MAC. After that it was just shitty team, after shitty team. Minus last years team, although I think OU was better last year than this year.
I say all that to say, I don’t think this is a curse situation, we just sucked and OU has been pretty good. Not that I’m assuming a win tonight. I think it’s going to be a very hard game and I have no idea what’s going to happen, but we can win there.
I have faith in the team not overlooking this game because I’m not sure how you could ever overlook a chance to go 31-0 but it seems the general public thinks it’s a forgone conclusion that Miami will finish the season undefeated which I absolutely hate. This will be a very tough game. Senior night in a tough environment you could say this is essentially OU’s Super Bowl. Spread is only 5.5.
I hope we have a large Miami contingent on hand to hopefully watch history unfold tonight!
That was the infamous “DOES ANYONE WANT TO WIN THIS GAME?” thread because it seemed that no one could hit a shot in the final minute of regulation, the final minute of the first OT, and the final minute of the second OT.
I’m sure points were scored in the closing minute of each segment but the rage posts for all of the unsuccessful attempts kept piling up.
It’s going to be close for sure. First big rivalry game, Teams have a lot of tape on us and know how to play us. You can see it in the last 3-4 games. Shooting percentages are down and we’re not getting anywhere close to 90+ per game.
We play well. very well together, but we’re not athletically superior and able to bully ball and roll over teams with superior athletes.
Push the pace, keep the ball moving and keep turnovers down. 3 ball shooting will come and go but if we keep it moving we’re able to get decent open looks. Hit them and we’ll get the W.
Going to need lots of breathing exercises for tonight. Been 15 years since mbb has won at ou and 7 years since hockey has won at Denver. And the games start at the same time
Making the trip down 33 to watch a Miami team for the first time since Nov 6th, 2019 when Sam Sloman hit a 53-yarder to send us to the MAC championship game.
We stood around too much on offense in the Toledo game. Move without the ball so we can create more opportunities, no lapse on focus so we don’t turn the ball over. If we do that we win.
A veteran gambler once told me “ never bet against a streak you can only lose once”.
This was after losing 4 days in a row betting on the Orioles to finally win a game during their season opening home stand. Fortunately I was leaving Vegas on day 5.
I am going to go with his advice today! Go Miami! Keep the winning streak alive!
