12 Team CFP Game Tracking

Are these MAC officials? Good lord! Four or five bad calls already.

I wasn’t surprised that Notre Dame and Penn State rolled. I wasn’t even that surprised that Texas had control for most of the game. I didn’t think this game would be a blowout. But even the marquee matchup of Tennessee/OSU is not competitive. What a crappy first round.

I took the Over on this one, thinking OSU would come out on a mission. I also thought Tennessee would score more than 10 points. OSU got me paid!

42-10 blowout. UT with some injuries but they have been outclassed.

Daughter at game. Picked up pretty good seats for $140 this morning.

Edit was a very small correction. Sorry.

It’s not Finebaum, it’s his callers. If he wants to continue getting callers he has to make everything else look bad other than the SEC

Phyllis in Mulga died, I think.

Jedd Fisch should be able to keep Puget Sound talent like Egbuka and Tuimolau at home. Jimmy Lake couldn’t get either one.i would love to have seen them in Purple and Gold.

I avoided this game, btw. Took Texas as a 13.5 point favorite vs Clemson and sweated that one out …

Great OSU ass kick of the Vols - sold my seats tonight to watch from Palm Springs - off to the AZ Bowl for the Redhawks and then the Rose Bowl for the Bucks!

If you remember the horrendous Duke-Miami game from a few years back where the officials made like 10 errors on Miami’s game winning TD that never should have happened…it was that ACC crew.

I feel like this exact quote could be attributed to the RedHawks, just addressing the other Chuck.

There is gonna be grumbling about this playoff format given the lack of competitive games, but this was kind of the point of going to 12 teams. People mostly acknowledged the 9-12 teams wouldn’t have a great chance at winning a title, but they should get a shot at it. In that way, the format worked as it should: the cream was able to demonstrate they are a tier above the rest, but teams like IU and SMU were still given a shot as a reward for their season. I much rather see teams like them get a shot then a more competitive 3 loss SEC team.

The one change that will almost assuredly be made will be the byes for champs. It should just be the top 4. That will hopefully help with a more competitive first round while still keeping the spirit (they should still get guaranteed into the CFP).

I would’ve thought after the death threats after the FSU CFP debacle that Herbie would stay silent, but nope had to open his yapper about it. Always love it when he tries to be impartial at OSU games. You know he’s sitting on wood the whole time. Hopefully people pointed out the error of his ways to him. IU parlayed easy schedule into a great year. Nothing wrong with that. The game probably would’ve been different if they would’ve scored off that first interception. Love see TN take it on the chin. There’s always going to be sins of omission when you have something that doesn’t let everyone in. And after yesterday, I’d watch FCS progression to championship over NCAA big boys all day. Montana and the Dakotas were REALLY entertaining!

Agreed. I think Round 1 should be thought of as a quasi play-in game between flawed but higher-end teams with good resumes, with the proper penalty (having to play a true road game) for the lower seed with a worse record/schedule. The system did its job this year.

I’d be in favor of eliminating the conference champ byes too, there will naturally be a lot of overlap between champs and Top 4 seeds anyway (for the Big Ten/SEC at least). Wouldn’t be opposed to reseeding either, though it’s less necessary if you no longer have the 4th conference champ matched up against the 5 seed by design.

They should make sure that there is always an NFL game opposite so people can watch something competitive.

I’m all for eliminating the “conference champs get byes” rule with one exception:

The MAC champ gets several byes and is automatically placed in the national title game.

Bucks are FAVORED (about 2.5) vs. Oregon. I’m mildly surprised. I assumed the line would be about even.

Hard to beat a rival twice in the same season. We should know.
