Miami football is solid and the program has good momentum but I am begging Coach Martin to re- evaluate everything we are doing on offense. We had 3 games without a TD.

We are so predictable and so boring. I swear we have one basic running play. Do we ever use motion besides the rb moving an inch? Our pass plays are almost never over the middle. We have to get a better scheme

Talent wise the offensive line needs work. I felt like it under-achieved in 2024 and this year it just wasnt good enough

Qb play needs to improve and we need to have real answers if someone gets hurt.

We need to change our strategy on that side of the ball

Well said. I completely agree.

Our offensive schemes and game plan are dreadful and predictable.

As you and others have noted, why the hell don’t we throw short over the middle??
Why don’t we use tight end drag routes??

Why don’t we ever throw quick inside slants??

Why do we give up on the running game so quickly (especially after our success the first series today)??

Why do we throw low percentage long passes so often??

Why are all our running plays read options right up the gut?

Why?Why?Why???

Also well said- many of us have been complaining for years with no change- the last two games have been terrible - play calling not in line with our talent and O line for years has been soft- we cannot seem to develop any O line talent- a real coaching weak spot. CM’s hope and a prayer long pass plays have hurt us for years. We give up on the run game too quickly which is wast of our big back talent. How much more of this crap do we have to take?

I disagree about the momentum, going from 11 to 9 to 7 wins with consistently worse performances against good teams is a clear regression back to 2017-22. The world that led to 2023 probably can’t be replicated, but we should expect more.

Wholeheartedly agree with everything else. We will never be able to out-athlete the rest of the MAC, let alone bigger programs. We need to focus the offense on getting our good athletes open in the pass game and using that to help a creative running attack, that doesn’t happen without major changes.

I believe it was Phil who correctly pointed out how abysmal this team was this year against teams with winning records. I won’t say this year was a failure but it was not a success. It was mediocrity by definition. And I am tired of hearing excuses of roster turnover, injuries, the portal. This today’s college sports landscape. Every team is going through this. The teams that are prepared still succeed. Miami is not one of them.

Won’t chance with current OC . Beating a dead drum

Here. Learn from the Genius himself. You want Miami to change? Run the West Coast Offense? here’s Bill Walsh’s playbook from the 1985 San Francisco 49’ers

Miami doesn’t have an OC at the moment. From the sounds of it, Pat Welsh bailed on the team before AZ.

The playcalling sucks and we definitely need a new OC, but no playcaller is going to be successful if the line can’t block anybody. James Patton has some impressive stops on his resume, but there’s generally a reason why a guy who’s coached at Oklahoma and a few places in the Big 10 winds up as a position coach in the MAC.

Did Walsh take another job? Or just quit without a job

I believe he had an ear infection.

Walsh bailed before the bowl game and there wasn’t any word of it? Maybe tired of being OC in name only.

He had been with Martin a long time. Interestingly i missed it in the game notes but he was not listed. But MAYBE this will force Martin to give up Play calling and it could be a good thing

A good thought, but somehow I doubt it.

Another job. Not sure of specifics and whether it’s an OC job or not.

I frankly didn’t even notice a difference, so Martin must have been calling plays all year cause we sucked just the same as we have all year

Two thoughts heard in the 49ers game tonight. First from a 49er-we don’t just keep the same offense all season, we change every week. Second from the announcers-the thing that kills that off tackle zone read is when the defense gets penetration (i e the offense line can’t block). Lessons to take to heart.

He calls the plays for sure. The OC is coordinating…something, I gues.

I haven’t seen confirmation of Welsh leaving. I have mixed feelings on this but if he has been involved calling the plays, (with or without CM) maybe that gives us a slight opportunity to retool what we do on offense. Welsh does have a good reputation as a recruiter. Again, aside from Yanks, who usually has good sources, I haven’t seen confirmation, although I have heard rumours of a particular team.
