Wittenberg University in financial trouble

“Total cost of attendance” at Hamilton this year is $88,970.00.

Don’t ask me how I know.

Update on the Wittenberg plan. Cut 60% of the faculty and only 1/4 to 1/3 of staff

If they plan to cut 60% of faculty, then, logically, they should also cut at least 60% of the Admin idiots who oversee the place, seems only fair.

Or this is a way to force the professors to accept a new contract and rehire them later?

This is how Wittenberg closes up shop because ~1,300 students who get financial help isn’t enough to pay administrators salaries

I know the departments listed sounds like it’s a Liberal Arts college but that’s exactly what they are

This is crazy. Sadly, I don’t believe the 2028 class will get their degree from Wittenberg. Talking about wrong signals again, such massive cuts immediately start a death spiral: Lots of students will transfer → less revenue → more cuts…

A shame. When I graduated from high school, Wittenberg had an excellent reputation and many kids from my suburban Cincinnati high school went there. I briefly considered going there myself.

They use to have national championship calendar football teams back in the day, too. Played in the championship game four times in the 70s…won it twice. They had an excellent academic rep. I have a cousin who’s a Tiger.

I’m not sure that I’d even call Wittenberg a liberal arts college. According to the internet (which never lies), their most popular majors are business, education, communications and nursing.

@JiveHawk Time to start a separate thread for those who can’t get enough Wittenberg content. :sunglasses:

Season opener September 7 vs. Baldwin Rasheed Wallace.

Yeah, I covered Thomas More around the turn of the century and TMC was 11-0 heading into the second round of the Division III playoffs and lost to Wittenberg, 56-0. That team would’ve given some D-1 teams fits.

Thats interesting. I think a day of those kind of challenges would be neat. About that time I worked with a guy that played at Mount union in the early 90s and I asked him how he thought Kent (bad MAC team) would do vs Mt and he said Kent would win by 50 points. But at the same company there was a guy that played for Ohio U in the 70s and he thought it would be close
