As I said common sense is to trust the process.
If nothing by middle of the upcoming week, then perhaps there could be some concern, but until then, not too worried. Let them all enjoy their spring break.

I was really counting on a 10am Monday after spring break announcement but my optimistic timing didnt happen

We are just fans so we tend to fret…kinda goes “with the turf”.
But it’s hard to think that this delay is a positive thing….as many have noted w all the coaching changes Steele may feel he owes it to himself to keep his options open until “the smoke clears”.
OTOH, it’s also quite possible that he and Sayler are still hammering out some details on NIL and assistant coach funding before Steele agrees to extension.
I think the bit about the assistants is probably spot on.
As much as we’re worried about Steele leaving, I wonder if Holmes and/or Smith might be getting courted by bigger programs. The Final Four doubles as the annual assistant coaches meat market and I don’t rule out that we find out we need to replace someone on the bench. Not that this should necessarily hold up an extension, but it is something I’ve been thinking about.

Absolutely and I sort of lump that in with recruiting your own roster at the beginning of this thread. Although obviously different than the actual player roster. I have mentioned elsewhere the assistants need a bump as well if we are going to retain them. That continuity is vital as well.

I think it is a good sign for sure but these things can still change. I will feel happy when I see a Steele press release and we get past the portal timing

- This doesn’t mean Steele won’t leave.
- This doesn’t mean other announcements are coming
- This doesn’t mean Kirby can’t change his mind.
- Basically this doesn’t mean anything until practice starts in the fall.
That being said, at this point, I will take any positive news.

Mark Adams has said since January that Justin Kirby is a future MAC POTY. Let’s make that a reality.
Given the week of no news, and a graphic with Kirby I get the sense there is some alignment and finality on who is or is not returning and they will repeat the daily announcements like last year

This thread should be renamed “what didnt happen asap”. We still dont have a Steele contract renewal- we arent faring anywhere close to as well in the portal- ugh
