Western Michigan at Miami Tuesday at Millett

Watching Bobs and Rockets, twice within a minute announcer says “MAC Conference play”. It’s not that difficult.

No, but that’s apparently what we’ve settled for the rest of the game.

Amazingly, Mirambeaux hit 2 step back 3s, but we gave up back-to-back layups around those because we tried to play zone defense, which we’re awful at.

Just start fouling now. We cant stop them

This is a winnable game…at home…Miami must win all these relatively easy-ones…or be doomed

That was good defense by Bultman on White. Not enough Bultman on offense, especially when he’s been guarded by Lobsinger. He’s crushed him on back cuts and 1-on-1 play.

-13 on the glass. 18/30 from the foul line.

Bobaramas lose to the Toledos 86-77.

Now 19-32 from the line. Will someone call Herb Sendek and tell him to get back here to work on free throws or else?

So wmu was last place in the conference last year

They were 3-9 with a 294 net ranking

We were 80% favorites per ESPN

You cant lose games like this

I can’t wait for the press conference

Of the games I’ve watched, this is the one that Ipsaro impacted the least. A very unsatisfying game to say the least. Very little offensive flow. Some really lazy defensive possessions, especially on the glass. We’ve been a poor rebounding team all year, but we were especially poor tonight. The ups and downs come with a young team, but the downs are a little lower than I expected.

They’re not. But we’re a middle of the road MAC team without the starting center or backup PG. The starting PG was hurt early in the game and multiple players have the same bug Morris does. And WMU just got their best player back. It happens. It’s a bad loss. Before tonight the lowest ranked team they’ve lost to is #188. It’s the first time they’ve been upset all season.

Despite being terrible, rebounding is the one thing WMU does well. Despite being good, rebounding is the one thing Vermont doesn’t do well.

Seems like things will come heavily down to whether we get killed on the glass or not.

On my way.

Miami had five freshmen play a total of 85 minutes.

Western had one freshman play 6 minutes.

I know the article on the website is going to say Miami was led by Anderson Mirambeaux’s 20 points or whatever but Stafford and him really hurt us this year

He had some good offense plays but he is out of shape and it is killing us on defense and on the glass and at the line. Last year he was a 77% free throw shooter. This year it is about 57% and it is because he is too tired to concentrate on making them- he is just throwing them up there

He can be a dynamic offensive player but I think he is more harm than good. Maybe today he had to play because of sickness. Hope he gets in shape soon

I hope he gets in shape too. But, he had plenty of time before he became eligible to play.

That was a poor, uninspired performance by Miami in its MAC opener at home. I understand some members of the team, like Morris, may have been sick/injured. But that doesn’t excuse what we saw. Defense porous, failing to rotate. Failing to seal off to prevent offensive rebounds by WMU. Failing to make the extra pass and instead force ill advised shots. Numerous putbacks by WMU because we were failing to rotate, and/or body up our man. 20 second chance points!! FT shooting that continues to be beyond abysmal. I haven’t looked where we finished but near the end of the game we were at 59% from the FT line. Out rebounded (outworked) by double digits. I could go on, but that was extremely disappointing, and I know there will be those defending this performance, but we just were beaten at home by a bad MAC team. I guess we are a bad MAC team as well. Given the state of the MAC this year (see the other thread) we really shouldn’t lose home games in MAC play. And certainly not like this. I do want to credit Potter. I thought he did a yeoman’s job on Brown. Best of our team to defend him. And Ipsaro as always played his ass off, including trying to muscle up on defense, 6’9" Lobsinger. Needless to say, Miami has a lot to clean up and work to do.

I watched the game last night and definitely did not like the effort from the team. Way too many second chance points given up-as mentioned above, not good defense. Also free throw shooting was horrendous. Hoping for better efforts to come in conference play.
