Just like that it’s a 1 possession game and Miami has the ball!
Suder second half inspired. If we win he should get to fly home!
Steele and co have been great at drawing up plays out of breaks.
Huge defensive play by Woolfolk
Never imagined this would be a two point game with 90 seconds to play. We were getting crushed by 18.
Craft using his right hand instead of his left and gets it blocked.
All that hard work and just terrible last minute. Why is Wolf walking the ball up the court down 4 with 50 seconds. Our last three possessions two blocks and a 27 footer
I didn’t like that backcourt foul with 1:27 left.
They have shot 30 FT to our 12.
Good comeback.
Just coming up short, it would seem.
Sometimes when you erase a big deficit, it’s tough to get over the hump.
Great effort on the road!
It feels like they are 28-30 too
This is a really solid Vermont program that we had to play on a long road trip after finals, but it feels like a missed opportunity to get a quality win away from Millett.
Good effort to cut the deficit, but overall I thought this was a pretty dispiriting game. I think @Digitalhawk was prescient—we don’t have an identity imo. Especially when outside shots aren’t falling.
I am not sure how good Vermont is. They arent deep for sure. But they could have a good record in the America East
For us it was a nice comeback but still an 8 point loss isnt great. If we get lucky in Cleveland then this is the type of game that makes us a 15 seed instead of a 14
Miami didnt budget for this years team to play in a bowl game?
7% from 3. Outscored by 18 (!) at the line. That’s bad basketball. If you’re not making threes, get to the line.
My statement was a tongue-in-cheek jab that most of the department’s funding goes to football and basketball has been underfunded for decades.
Eh, I don’t think this Vermont team is that good. Decent, but they have a sub-500 record, and their schedule isn’t anything special. I think our team has the better overall talent, but young guys, road game, et cetera.
Just got in a rut and put ourselves in too deep of a hole tonight. I liked the resilience out there though. We saw a lot of fight down the stretch, going for turnovers, forcing tough shots. Not enough to pull out the late win, but a great effort to come back like that. I’m glad our guys didn’t quit. That’s an important quality in a team. Looking forward to MAC play.
Fiorillo and Long are the two scorers. Everybody in the gym knows that. Yet they combine for 41 points. Exactly like Noel and Huibregtse from Wright St combined for 53 points when everybody knows those are the guys.
Poor defensive game plan and/or execution. I dont see any great defenders, and we’re certainly not where we need to be as a team. Long way to go, but you don’t want to play your best basketball in December.
I would experiment with the lineups. Cooper’s spot should be up for grabs. I’d slide Suder to PG more often and I’d want to see Potter + Woolfolk some. Potter needs to become a real contributor if this team wants to go where we all want it to. Absent that, the freshman look young and Kotecki obviously isn’t separating in practice it would seem.
Yeah - playing great for 6 minutes couldn’t erase playing crappy for 34.
Pressing sped up the game, got the team energized and got us back in the game. Not sure why we waited til we did to try it.
