Team is terrible defensively.
WTF is Dalonte doing?
Team is terrible defensively.
WTF is Dalonte doing?
Donāt call it a comeback.
Hold everything
LOLā¦well done!
Who saw that coming?
Ironically, the fact that people are livid about a game where we go to OT against the fifth place team in the conference when we have a short bench and played like shit shows how far the program has come.
lol
Did we Dalonte redeem, thatās good!
Great comeback win- lots of big shots in the last 4 minutes
NIU does look clearly better than their overall recordā¦but we looked like dogshit for much of thisā¦
Anyway, thatās always fun and big time when you can bring it back and win it like that. Glad to see Dalonte fight!
A crazy comeback. A win is a win.
Iām in shock. This is surreal.
Thanks to NIU for todayās gift. In the last 4 minutes of regulation, they committed 4 turnovers, which doesnāt include their lane violation on the front end of a 1-and-1. NIU shot 17/29 from the field after halftime, 5/10 from 3. They missed the 1 free throw that allowed Brown to tie the game. Credit to our team for taking advantage. We scored on our last 8 possessions of regulation, 12 of our last 14 when counting overtime. After halftime, we shot 21/38 from the field, 7/12 from 3 with 9 assists and 4 turnovers.
Winning feels great. We made big shots and played well down the stretch. Where was that for the first 37 minutes of the game? As long as we continue to play pick and roll defense the way we do, which is the guard having to fight through the screen, which doesnāt happen more than half the time, and our big plays off with no hedge because heās worried about the roll, weāll let the opposing team walk into rhythm 3 after rhythm 3. Any team that shoots a decent percentage from 3 will shoot well against us. Also, after getting whipped on Tuesday, I wouldāve expected a stronger start, which didnāt happen.
Again, credit to us for running through the door once NIU left it open for us. 3-3 keeps us in the hunt for a top 4 spot in the MAC but realistically, it feels more like weāre playing just to get into the top 8. The structural flaws remain: poor defense, unimpactful bench, offensive streakiness, and inconsistent prep.
How could Akron only beat WMU by 1 at home? Why didnāt they blow out one of the worst teams in the MAC?
Even in a win everyone wants to complain. This is the MAC. Most games are tight. This is also basketball where huge swings are the name of the game and winning means having to fight through them.
Iām not going to complain, cuz the standings donāt care how but if you win. But letās be honest, NIU blew this one more than we won it. Iāll gladly take it with open arms, but the majority of MAC teams would have closed this out today. Hell of an effort by Delonte. Gotta clean it up, or there wonāt be many more wins this season.
