- There are thousands of players available in the portal and Steele has some big holes to fill. Maybe this is an intensive, full-time effort for him and his assistants because the future of the program depends on it.
- If he were leaving, why would he wait until the portal closes to announce it, and forgo the absolute imperative at a new school to do the same portal recruiting?
- I conclude he is staying.

Not really a surprise that they would still be negotiating the finer points of the contract (assistants pool of $$, maybe NIL needs, etc.). If the HC salary offer approaches $1mil I’d be surprised if that is a “sticking point”. Probably something about equal to his brother’s at Akron.
