Red Top Beer

Looks like Uptown Light is rolling out to retail stores in and around SW Ohio this week.

I’d suggest everyone grab a 12 pack even if you’re not a beer drinker to support the cause. Hopefully it tastes great and people embrace it. Cheers!

I’ll bring some back from the UNLV game.

Xavier just launched their own NIL beer through the same Cincinnati Beverage Co. partnership that we did. They brought back the Burger brand similar to us with Red Top. I do like their can design more than ours, fwiw.

Will be interesting to see how it performs relative to ours. Hope everyone has bought some Uptown Light by now!

Have not seen ours yet at any of the stores where I frequent. The beer finder on their website says Minnicks drive thru’s are stocking it so I will have to try one of those.

I know there is a liquor store in downtown Loveland, OH (where I live) that sells it. Plan to pick some up tomorrow.

Liquor store in Oxford behind LaRosa’s has it. It’s good!

Please for the love of all things glorious, tell me that Loveland Skate is still open. (Lie to me if you must.)

Uptown Light tastes great, highly recommend. Was able to buy a bunch in Oxford during the UNLV game. Wish I could get some out of state!

Haha still alive and kicking/skating. Haven’t been in there in maybe 15 years, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I’ll be taking my daughter to a birthday party there sometime soon

In my mind’s eye, it’s 1985, and it’s couple’s skate and some hit from Chicago is playing.

Arrow Wine in S.Dayton. Brought in 2 cases of the Miami beer as a special order.

It looks like our beer needs a strong marketing push to say the least!

If only Miami had a top ranked business school and entrepreneurial program who could get involved with this………

Profs can have wine tasting events on campus but they don’t want minors to get overly involved in selling more beer.
All kidding aside it makes bit of sense.

Who needs a business school. Just buy the first 5 seconds of “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel. Then show hot chicks drinking the beer. Run it as that annoying video pre roll YouTube makes you watch. Done!

It would have been nice if the beer was a little more “Miami forward” like the Muskie beer. I’m guessing there are issues around licensing and sensitivities around beer, but unless you knew, you probably wouldn’t even know Uptown Light was a Miami connected beer if you just happened to see it on a shelf quickly, unlike the Muskie can which is very clearly identifiable as X connected with the mascot and All For One Fund right on the can top.

Something as simple as labeling it Oxford’s Uptown Light would have helped. Maybe some bricks in the background.

I asked a similar question earlier in this thread and Bluesman replied it’s definitely Miami holding back the can design.

I get Red Brick Legacy probably doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers in the Athletic Department or Roudebush Hall, but still seems you could have involved Red Bricks, the word Oxford, etc. Obviously the block M and specific logos would be no go, but I believe the Musketeer on the can above isn’t an official X mark either.

Just seems like another example of not being able to get out of our own way to try and market our program.
