Gonzalez 18. Singer with 11. No other Miami player had over 6. Tretter 1-10 from the field. Devries 1-5. Chandler with 3 points. Miami shoots 30% from the field. Purdue 67 Miami 51. Final.
Although I was able to watch the men’s game replay Sunday on my I-pad I was not able to make it work, so l ended up listening to the game on the I-pad with Grumpy ‘s favorite announcer Tim Bray. I did not know that Miami now provides free internet radio broadcasts, a nice feature.
So Purdue is a very big team, and our big girls had no offensive production in this game. That has not been an issue in other games and we probably won’t face anyone else that big. Just guessing that was an issue since I did not see it.
Final score was not indicative of how close the game actually was.
It was 44-43 and in the flash of an eye it was 60-47. Horrible job defending the 3 in the last half of the fourth quarter.
Put Tim Bray and Michael Reghi in a room together and you still don’t have a broadcaster.
Watched every minute. Purdue’s size wasn’t the issue. We actually handled that well. Our inability to make shots was the problem. Miami shot 13% in the second quarter. As I posted Tretter 1-10. And some of those misses were easy shots. Glenn addressed this in the post game presser. He attributes the shooting deficiencies last night to the layoff from finals. FYI-Purdue had 10 girls 6’0" or taller. Our next opponent, George Washington has 11 girls 6’0" or taller. I commented on this during the game, that Enj and Singer seem to play at a speed much different than the rest of the team. Singer must be in great shape because she leads the team in minutes and goes non stop the entire time she is on the court, especially on defense. She and Enj again led the team in turnovers, but they also are the primary ballhandlers. Some of Singer’s turnovers were offset by her 5 steals. Some of Singer’s turnovers aren’t really her fault but that of the receiver who either didn’t or couldn’t handle the pass. But some are just sloppy passes. Singer also leads the team in three point shooting percentage, but needs to work on her layups. Enj needs to work on her free throw shooting which is around 60%. She does and will get to the line often. I haven’t talked to Glenn yet about the game as they are getting ready to head to Florida.
Tim Bray likes to say “cover two”. A lot.
“Oh geez, Glenn, here comes that dining hall guy again…”
Pretty much. But then he said “at least it wasn’t that Digitalhawk guy from MHT”!
(I’m sure Glenn doesn’t object to the donations to his program I make!)
I wonder if he would object to me coming up with a name for his podcast. I’d call it “Box and 1” since it would always be him and a guest.
You’re welcome, Glenn!
I’m also past the dining hall issue. I just told my daughter if she doesn’t like the food to do this!
