Prediction Tuesday: Miami @ the site of the old WI state fair

16-10 good guys win, both offenses struggle & we make a few extra plays on D

31-17 bad guys.

I’m predicting bread and jam for Frances.

Badgers 27 - RedHawks 9

Only prediction I’m sure of is that I will be eating cheese curds over the next two days.

Whisky——-too many….as in 38

Hawks——–too few…….as in 13

Wisconsin 7-7-7-7 = 28

Miami. 3-0-7-3 = 13

Wisconsin historically starts off slow. If we can have some success early, we may have a chance. Our inexperience may be to our advantage in that we’re unpredictable. It also makes us near impossible to scout. We need Martin to play not to lose if we’re going to pull off this upset..

38-10 them

Tipsy Cow has best in town!

Gates&Brovi, Graze, Merchant, and Curd Girl are also some of my faves.

Hope Miami can go 2-2 to start the season.

Agree size matters.

Beeaadgers 26

Hawks 11

I’m just hoping we get in the end zone. We haven’t scored a Week 1 TD since 2022.

I think we can win, but in don’t believe we will. We cover the 17.5 spread, though.

26-10 Badgers

Wisconsin - 38

Miami - 10

Wisconsin 24 Miami 17. I am expecting a season pattern similar to last year as I think we have good talent but there is going to be an experience issue until we play some games and make some adjustments and things come together. Hope for the best though, we are a much more talented team and Wisconsin is a much less talented team than the previous visit before Chuck got the team turned around..

College Football 26 Prediction:

Miami 30

Wisconsin 27

2OT

This game felt like what a quality MAC team needs to do to beat a brand-name Big Ten team: great start by the road team/slow start by the home team, catch a couple of breaks, survive a couple of chances that were blown, and then make a stunning play at the end.

Miami’s offense was clicking early, marching down the field before stalling out on the 2. I thought about going for it on 4th down, but considering Chuck Martin is officially in the game, it seemed appropriate that the first point came on a chip shot field goal rather than going for the TD.

Miami’s D came to play early, getting a strip sack on Wisconsin’s second offensive snap. The Badgers recovered but had to punt. After a Miami punt, the Badgers moved down the field but missed a field goal attempt. Following that miss, Dequan Finn marched the team down the field quickly. I don’t know if it’s going to work this way in real life but Finn and Kenny Tracy on the read option and sprinkling in Jordan Brunson up the middle is hellaciously efficient. Eventually, Finn scored on a QB sneak to put lag the lead to 10.

Wisconsin marched down the field again but… missed another field goal (the first attempt was from I think 38 yards out, the second miss was 54). Miami took advantage of the field position and Finn hit Keith Reynolds on a drag route to for the catch-and-run TD from 26 yards out. Miami was up 17-0 and it didn’t even seem that challenging.

Wisconsin finally connected on a field goal right before the half. Then the Badgers hit another one to start the second half.

Then things became challenging. The only highlight for Miami in the third was a Silas Walter’s interception that didn’t result in any points. Wisconsin gave up in the run (which definitely not happen in real life) but the short passing game finally started to click. The Badgers scored on a 56-yard TD pass with 10 seconds left in the quarter. The 2-point conversion made it 17-14 heading into the 4th.

Toney Coleman Jr. lost his man on the long TD pass. He would get his revenge later.

It is funny seeing Wisconsin’s “Jump Around” before the 4th quarter because EA Sports has to use generic music since it doesn’t have the rights to use “Jump Around” in the video game.

So after the students enjoyed the knockoff Jump Around, Miami’s offense responded and Finn scored his second rushing TD to bump the lead to 24-14. But Wisconsin responded with a field goal, a defensive stop, and a game-tying TD with 40 seconds remaining. Miami managed to get it to the Wisky 30 but Dom Dzioban missed the potential game-winning kick.

Dzioban did hit a 39-yarder to start OT. I wasn’t too confident in the chances of preventing a TD on Wisconsin’s possession. But after giving up one first down, Miami’s D stood tall and forced another Wisconsin field goal.

Then virtual Toney Coleman Jr became a legend. On the first play of the 2nd OT, Wisconsin tried a pass to the flat to Trech Kekahuna (who had the long TD earlier)… and Coleman jumped the route and picked it off. He almost took it all the way to win it but Kekahuna made the tackle. At this point, I refused to take any chances. Tracy wasn’t injured but the game didn’t make him available due to wear and tear. So, it was the Brunson and Finn show in 2OT. I wasn’t risking anything other than those two guys handling the rock and keeping two hands on it on every snap. Once Brunson moved the chains with a 9-yard run, I focused on lining it up… and Dom won it with a 29-yard kick.

Finn finished 18/26 for 202 yards, 47 rushing yards, and 3 total scores. Tracy had 95 yards on 15 carries. Deion Colzie ended up being the leading receiver with 80 yards.

From the PS5 console to the football gods’ ears…

I know better but I’m a homer. All kinds of crazy and Badger breakdowns. We’re really glad we signed Finn with some slick and timely scrambles and throws and our Redhawks pull a BIG10 upset. Miami 24 them theres 20.

New to HawkTalk - glad to be here. I think we keep it close early, but the big uglies in the trenches are just too much. Hope we get through the next two weeks healthy, which sets up a big game in Oxford against UNLV.

Welcome, Jason. Look, the only way we win this is if you show up wearing your mask on the visitor sideline.

Ps, I loved your movie work. If we were playing them on a Friday the 13th, we’d be money.
