Kent State 20
Miami 40
The first quarter was filled with field goals, with Miami leading 6-3. Early in the second quarter, the RedHawks increased the lead when Brett Gabbert found Jack Coldiron for the 18-yard TD. Kent later scored its own touchdown… but Miami answered just 55 seconds later, when Gabbert hit with deep pass to Javon Tracy, who sprinted to the end zone for the 64-yard scoring strike. Dom Dzioban added another field goal just before halftime to take the 23-10 lead into the locker room.
Just 55 seconds into the 2nd half, Gabbert scrambled up the middle and looked to get a TD on the ground but a defender hit him inside the 5, knocking the ball loose. A pile of players from both sides went after the ball, knocking it into the end zone, when Keyon Mozee dove on it for the unlikely TD. Another Dom FG and a short TD by Jordan Brunson finished off the scoring for Miami. Kent added a meaningless score in garbage time.

Gabbert toyed with Kent’s defense. He finished 18/23 for 215 yards and 2 TDs. He could have dominated if needed but Kent’s offense couldn’t keep up with Miami. Mozee had 102 yards on the ground and the fumble recovery for the score. Tracy had the most receiving yards (71) and Gabbert spread it around well, with 6 guys finishing with multiple receptions.
