Other Games (Non-Miami College Football)

From a branding standpoint it’s an absolutely terrible name. Yet they still seem to be on an uptick so what do I know.

It’s all about resources…look at what Coastal and other SBC teams are spending on their program and compare it to the MAC. Not great- we need to keep up with the Joneses!

Weather should not be an issue, as the current Tuesday forecast for Oxford is a high of 67 and a low of 48. Great weather for November.

They haven’t been around much longer than 10 years. They were a new FCS team when I first visited then 9,000 seat Brooks Stadium in 2009 to watch them lose to Colgate. They adopted an extremely outside the box strategy for building their programs by bringing in Ameriprise founder and CEO Al Moglia as their CEO/AD head football coach. Moglia quickly led both their football and baseball programs to prominence and handed football over to Jamey Chadwick. Chadwick produced the two back-to-back double digit win seasons and has them at 8-1 right now.

During the past 10 years, Brooks Stadium has grown to nearly the size of Yager. A beautiful state-of-the-art baseball stadium was built next door and the Chanticleers won the College World Series.

Success can be achieved by mid-major universities with limited resources. We just haven’t found a formula that works for us yet - to resurrect and rebuild what we once had.

That’s a pretty cool story! Inspiring as winning one of the big 4 nati’s is hard to do.

Watching UMass vs UConn. Both teams are bad but UMass is extra special bad. Penalties and dropped balls galore!

I know BC is bad but I have no idea how UConn beat them. Huskies might actually get bowl eligible! Incredible!

They have a great new coach. Jim Mora junior. Gets 1mm a year. He won’t be there long. Too good.

Yep. Didn’t expect him to make a difference in Storrs this quickly. One of their 5 losses was at Ball State.

I’m preparing for Tenn/UGA the only way a college fan should… by watching those plucky underdogs from Ohio State take on that Northwestern powerhouse.

Go Tulane!

Pfft… Ohio State couldn’t even shut out Northwestern through the first quarter. What a bunch of losers.

Since MU beat NW and now NW is up 7-0 at OSU, we by extension are beating Ohio State! Go us!

Yellow - I don’t want to go there. I’ve been to the Shoe with a Chuck Martin Miami team of what he considered “recess rejects.” It wasn’t a pretty site. Until we can be expected to turn in an effort like we did in 2000, I don’t want to go back.

Humor only goes so far. The 2000 and 2019 OSU game comparison is a classic example of how far we’ve fallen compared to the heavy weights - coaching and talent level.

I disagree. As a Bengals fan, humor has gotten me through entire decades.

That’s called gallows humor. You laugh as they pop the trap door. I prefer not to go gently (laughing) into that dark night.

Here’s something interesting: I’m willing to bet we have at least one win versus Ohio state in every sport MU has (past and present). Except of course football. And maybe track since the scoring is multi teams. I need my SID friends to help here if we still have any around.

That’s a given the multiple times we’ve played them in almost everything over the past 130 years. The big one, of course, is football. We didn’t play them in football at all between about 1908 and 2000. The first game back in 2000 was our high water effort against them.

Had our 73-75 football teams had a chance I bet we’d have gotten at least 1 w
