And mid major coach of the week per Field of 68-Travis Steele!
There seems to be a bunch of mid major polls nowadays, but the College Insider poll has been around for 27 years and is voted on by a panel of coaches. We moved up to #2 in that poll and even received a first place vote, which is surprising considering Gonzaga received all the other first place votes.
How is Gonzaga considered a mid-major at this point? I don’t care about Gonzaga’s conference affiliation, that program stopped being “the little engine that could” a long time ago.
Gonzaga is not in a P4 + Big East conference (or power conference). It is good they are on the list with us as it gives the list some validity. However, agree they are a perennial power. Also, PAC, MWC, and AAC should be here on this list too. The other schools are mostly FCS conference schools and it would be nice to be separated a bit more.
I’d really like to see how well we’d play against Illinois State and Pedon. I think I preferred hiring him over Steele when we had the chance but it seems to have worked out for both sides.
I would as well and at this point having watched a few Illinois State games, we are better. The matchup I think would be really fun would be Miami v St Louis University or George Mason
Too bad the old bracket busters doesnt exist. I like the idea of the sun belt challenge but bracket busters gave more options
It seems like a new bracket busters event/series, either hosted by a specific TV network or organized independently by conferences could be pretty successful considering the heavy reliance on NET today
