Offseason 2026

BUGS just signed a dude with three years of ECHL experience. He’s 6’3" 225lbs and comes in with 2 years of NCAA eligibility. He was towards the top of the ECHL in penalty minutes each year. His first game will be against Landon DuPont at Yost. There’s a 6-year age difference between the two.

Just when you think it can’t get any crazier someone comes along and says “Hold my beer…”

Back to lurking.

Crazy and sad things happening in Tempe

That’s like Ryan Reid age, but Ryan Reid hadn’t been a pro before going to LSSU.

@muhawk remember the Ryan Reid game?

Holy shit. They ran insane workouts OUTDOORS in Phoenix in AUGUST? I hope this poor kid’s family bankrupts the state government.

Supposedly it was at like 7 am and high 80s to low 90s so not the craziest conditions ever but also supposedly players are claiming he was clearly struggling and the instructors kept saying there’s no excuses and to keep going. There really isn’t a clear story yet a lot of conflicting statements but looks really bad from ASU

Absolutely. The one time I truly went out of my way to be as ruthless as humanly possible. Then it turned out that he deserved even worse.

Miami did the same kind of military-style drills a week ago.

It’s awful but it was only in the 80s and it was just a fluky thing that unfortunately happens once in a while to high-level athletes.

Now how ASU is handling it? That’s another story. Optics are terrible.

Why do “military drills” for a sport?

I did find it interesting ours were inside this year. Last year they were outside on cook field but this year it was in the DISC/the basketball practice courts. Obviously the weather in Ohio is different from the weather in Arizona though.

Our players and coaches raved throughout the year about how great The Program was for the team last year when they came in and how it really set the tone for their great season. The other thing is The Program is an actual LLC that travels and has worked with hundreds of teams in different sports across the country for the last 18 years with seemingly qualified staff. The articles I’ve read make it seem like the guy running the ASU workout was some local former service member who doesn’t actually have a business leading things like this and just does it on the side. Not saying it’s all this guys fault because there were others there that could’ve and should’ve intervened and there’s still a lot that’s being kept quiet about the situation but all around terrible for the kid, the team and everyone involved.

This article goes really in depth-

Obviously prayers for Mayich and his family. A horrible tragedy that can’t be reversed no matter who you point the fingers at to blame.
