Cheney was an FCS hire at JMU out of Holy Cross.

My nephew played for Chesney at Holy Cross, Miami could only hope to be so lucky, (as any other program in America)…Chesney might be the best coach in the country.

Ryan “born on third base” Day can barely function with a $50M roster.

Sayler has made some excellent head coach hires - his biggest problem is that he waits too long to make a change. Hockey , volleyball and baseball all hit the bottom for a period of time before a a change was made. No rationale person can continue to support CM and the senior members of his staff. What we saw Tuesday night - a disorganized staff with mental/ physical errors by a poorly coached team - has been going on for years. Does anyone in the Administration and BOT really care? We will be luckly to have 5000 people in the stands this coming Tuesday night unless OU fans show up in big numbers. All of us who have financially supported the football program in the past need to be very clear to Sayler that we will no longer support Miami FB until a change is made.

I would be shocked if he actually gets fired. His tenure at the end is similar to me as the end of Charlie Coles - good game plans- decent teams- terrible day of game coaching and lots of blown leads and very boring style of play. So it might take a 3-9 type season to really get him out (like Coles last year). Of course the NIL might change that calculation

I think the fact that Sayler made it pubicly known Miami wants to at least move on to the AAC (or better), Sayler might have the justification to remove Martin from his duties. If the aspirations of conference affiliation were still private, maybe Martin would have a longer rope.

Sean Lewis was another one who had some decent teams at Kent State with very little and left to go to Colorado. I think he left because he was frustrated with resources. Now he is head coach at SDSU.

As he should be. He got carried by a great DC last season, but other than that, he’s 7-15 there. No reason SDSU can’t be one of the best teams in the new version of the Pac 12. The ultra high tempo offenses have run their course and guys like Lewis have struggled to adapt.

Speaking of that DC, I mentioned him earlier in the thread, but he’d be another guy to consider:

In 2014, he got his first coaching job as the linebackers coach at Bemidji State, where he was promoted to be the team's defensive coordinator in 2017. In 201...

Would Spence Nowinsky be worth considering? He’s running the best defense in the nation at New Mexico.
