Marshall is 10-5 overall

Beat UMASS and Toledo, lost to Ohio. Also beat Mercyhurst, Arkansas Pine Bluff, and Wright St

161 on Kenpom

181 on Bartorvik

133 Net Ranking

The bad news is that it is more of a rivalry then you normally get in this challenge and none of the SunBelt teams have a NET very high

The good news is it is limited travel and similar to a normal MAC road game

135 is the cutoff for a road game, so technically quad 2 at the moment. Troy would have been a much safer bet for a quad 2 game.

Looks like the matchups were line them all up by NET and 1 plays 1 and 2 plays 2. Buffalo and Kent swapped. And Georgia Southern isnt participating on the SBC side

Another easy 66-6 win over them forthcoming.

One game will be on ESPN2, the others will be ESPN+. Have to assume it’s either us/Marshall or Troy/Akron for that, and I’d think we have the edge especially if we keep winning.

I really like this setup to get good quality OOC matchups for all the schools as a break from conference play. Wouldn’t mind something similar with the Missouri Valley or Horizon League conferences.

Last night Marshall lost at home to a really mediocre Coastal Carolina team. They’re now 11-7 (3-3), sitting 6th place in the Sun Belt. Very little chance of picking up a Q2 win. Horrendous scheduling to give us ODU and Marshall this season.

They should match up 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 etc. just few weeks out. Travel could be slightly more tough, but it would work. How are we playing #6 Marshall? Looks like they were better in the non-conference. It still will be a tough game on the road.

It’s based on NET ranking, I believe, not conference positioning. When the matchups were announced, both Miami and Marshall were #2 in NET in their respective conferences.

Tailgate at Hillbilly Hotdogs in Lefarge WV?

Great pics in this gourmet write up.

I wouldn’t eat anywhere within 50 miles of Huntington. Pack food and eat that before the game.

Could always go out and shoot a possum!

You don’t like fried baloney?

I heard they are more upscale now and prefer armadillo, known locally as pos’um on the half shell’

As blasphemous as it may sound I had a case in Cabell County a few years ago and hated myself for having a nice time in Huntington. Good brewery right downtown, a couple cool arcade bars and some restaurants. If Miami fans didn’t rightfully fear for their lives it would be a good place to tailgate.

I went downtown to that micro brewery and arcade for lunch before our game in 2013. Wasn’t bad. It was before I changed into my red and white gear though.

Remember that time you came here and “held” on to a loss??

66-6
