I wonder if I’m the only one here who had classes in VanVoorhis? Yes, plural.
Predated Withrow. No black curtain. I still remember looking at the printout of my schedule and thinking,“what the hell is VV?”.

Let’s spend $200 million on the new quantum computing major instead.
So the new arena and demolition/cleanup of Millett will cost over 50 million dollars more than the cost of McVey Data Science and Clinical Health Sciences buildings combined.
And yes @JiveHawk I agree they need to be completely transparent on how much of this 200+ million will come the donor(s). And how Miami intends to fund the rest.
A quarter of a million would be $250million. The article says $200milion, and that also includes knocking down Millett and changes they will be making to that site, so considerably less than a quarter million.
Actually the article says over 200 million. So maybe not quite a quarter of a billion but still a substantial sum.
Meanwhile we are watching Miami play Vermont in an arena that looks like a glorified high school gym.
What’s a 10 or 20 million dif among friends?
I wouldnt call it glorified
I mentioned in the other thread, they’re in the middle of building a new arena. The price has increased by $87mil since breaking ground. There’s still no estimated completion date.
So total cost of 154 million.
A quarter of a million would be $250,000
And I said almost a quarter billion……almost operative word
Nah, the university is on their land….
Might be so if the Ohio tribe was federally recognized. They’re not.
Never say never……
If they’re going to demolish Millett, why not put a hotel there? It would be a great location for football games (not to mention field hockey, softball, track & field, soccer, etc.). I’d like that location vs. Cook Field personally.
Plenty of parking, too.
Wow. I’m trying to remember what Goggin cost to build in 2006, and I want to say $60M.
Bump.
$35 million (over $52 million in today’s dollars)
I’m suprised that anyone is suprised by this price tag.
