In the autograph line I asked one of the freshman what surprised him about this game compared to what he expected. His main point was that it “felt different”. Essentially everything was more intense and physical. I told him it felt to me like a tournament game.

It definitely felt like one of those games that you’d see back in a highlight package years down the line. Back and forth, big shots, two top teams.

So glad to see Elmer play well tonight on both ends of the floor. He has started this season slow but has been solid lately.

I’m digging the random love we keep getting from Lasik.

I don’t know if they got hacked, or if Elon incorrectly verified some rando, or if they have shockingly low standards/oversight for their admin, but based on a quick scroll, it looks like that account does literally nothing other than tweet about SW Ohio sports.

They tweet a lot about sports (especially refs with “better vision better calls”) so I guess they just told their socials guy to do whatever he wanted

Well written analysis as usual.

You are likely way younger than I am. We beat Purdue, X, UD, Tennessee, Mississippi State and a bunch more regular season I’m forgetting when Charlie had it going. Toward the end he was not as good but his worst year was a million miles better than the two regimes ever did that came after him. Also, he lost by 2 to UK at UK when they were a top 5 team in the country. Not sure there’s anything to debate here.

This is the first time in many years that I really followed Miami winter sports. Man it feels nice!

I think you and are about the same age (I’m class of ‘06), though I was a fan before going to Miami. We also knocked off Notre Dame three times in a 4-year stretch, including at their place when they were #10. Beat a ranked John Chaney Temple team at home as well as a top-10 Boston College team in a tournament in Hawai’i.

I was there for all of those home games. I anticipate Steele to stick around thanks to his family connections to the Cincinnati area, and hope continued success allows Miami to host home games against teams as high quality as some of those in the past. Get Millet a proper send-off before upgrading.

I got an AARP card so unlikely. How the hell did they find me. Three moments in my life that involve cards/notices all equally terrifying and/or bothersome:

  1. You turn 18 and get your selective service card. “Holy crap! They want to send my useless ass to defend us? We are screwed if that happens.”
  2. Jury duty summons. It’s a great honor if you don’t work 80 hours a week.
  3. That AARP card. It’s like opening a fart in a bottle. Totally depressing. But you do save 15% on FTD flowers. Honest question: Who ever sent those to their wife or girlfriend. I can’t name one person.

Gave this some thought. Offensively, definitely 2-3 fewer turnovers, and a slightly better shooting percentage on 3’s. Defensively, I don’t think much changes, Miami collectively did a better job than I thought was possible, especially rebounding Akron misses and forcing turnovers. I think it’s an 8-point win.

We finally cracked top 100 in kenpom. 99

I’ll have to rewatch, but I think this lead to Scott having a wide open 3 in the corner (that he missed thankfully) when we were up 71-70 after the Suder player control foul. I thought it was a very aggressive move against a team with that many shooters, but to your point it did get the ball out of Tavari’s hands more than once in the final 5ish possessions.

Charlie came very close to beating UK at Lexington,Ky, You May recall Charlie’s classic
