Miami men at Buffalo Tuesday at 7:00 on ESPN+

We need to beat Ball U like a drum. Hell, I still can’t stand Dan Palombizio.

Gillespie has 14 offensive rebounds.
Miami isn’t the only team that can’t keep him off the boards.

That is how a good team should perform against a bad team. It’s nice to have the 2-seed locked up before Friday.

Ball state blows a big lead and loses to Central.
Without looking i think they will have to win on Friday to have a chance to make the tourney.

Kent survives in Kalamazoo.

An odd night in the MAC - all 6 road teams won.

BSU needs to win Friday and (maybe) get help.

BG and WMU play each other, so the winner will get no worse than the 7th seed. Not sure how tiebreakers would work with the loser and BSU (and possibly CMU).

Reminder: tickets are free (again) for Friday. Promo code: CELEBRATE.

Nevermind this is wrong. Dont read. Ball State is out. Winner of bg vs wm will get a spot- there are 7 teams with winning records and bg and wmu are both 8-9

Well said. It’s been a real pleasure to watch good basketball

There are only 6 teams with winning records. With a win against Miami BSU would be tied with the loser of BG - WMU. CMU could also force a 3 way tie for the 8 spot by beating NIU.

Ball would lose a 2 way tiebreaker with Western (0-1). In a 2 way tiebreaker with BG - they split the season 1-1. Is the next tiebreaker record against highest seed? Neither team beat Akron. If it moves to record against Miami Ball would be 1-1 and BG 0-2. Not sure if that’s how it works or not.

Not sure how a 3 way tie with CMU in the mix would work. And I would think NIU will be mailing it in on Friday night.

Shoot. My bad

Offensively, we were great tonight. We didn’t overpass. We didn’t pass up open shots. We were aggressive. We moved and shared the ball. And we shot it really well. It’s hard to single out individuals, but I thought Potter made a big difference. In the last few games, he’s made a more concerted effort to take the ball strong to the basket. He’s not making all of them, but I love the attitude. Cooper’s made some timely 3s for us in MAC play. Skaljac is a hooper.

If we win the MAC tourney, it will be because we’ll likely get on a big offensive heater. Defensively, they took advantage of our switching, taking our bigs to the basket. They just couldn’t keep pace with us.

But a very good win. I thought it was important to win on the road before going to Cleveland. Let’s keep the momentum going and play all out Friday.

BTW, Ball St. may be out. The only chance they have is if they tie with BG, and then it comes down to the highest ranked team they’ve beaten (winning percentage that is) and who knows how that could go. I didn’t try to figure that out.

Sadly the roster picture of smiling Bortz has been lost to the fickle gods of the Internet.

But UB’s athletics website still has the last two minutes of regulation PBP from the 2005 game at Millett, aka the best two minutes of William Hatcher’s career.

Very much did not remember Chad Troyer being good enough to be in the game in that situation. Good shooter but don’t remember him playing much at all.

Was he a transfer? Seem to remember he was from out west?

Pacific I believe.

I thought he transferred out to Seattle. Not sure if he was high school recruit or also a transfer in.

Troyer was from Seattle. Transferred to Pacific after two seasons with Miami, where he finished his college career, averaging 11.7 pts/game over two seasons with the Tigers.

Went off in his first college game against Purdue. Hit three or four threes.
