Yea us, whew.
I watched at the end. The post game moron from Western Michigan is asking Box questions about WMU. Ridiculous. I got to watch 50/50 and these guys are asking a victorious coach about the other team. Come on man
And Glenn properly and promptly shut him down. Said my team persevered, and walked away. As he should
Okay, I bought the hype and tuned in for the last 12 minutes of this game. That was perhaps the worst basketball I’ve witnessed in decades and I don’t think I’ll be watching more. And then Coach Box gives a ridiculous interview after and how we persevered. We actually sucked (at least based on what I saw) and got lucky to beat a bad team.
Sometimes you gotta win ugly. They will play better next game. It’s a long season.
@19goSkins A good team had an off night, shot poorly, played perhaps their worst game of the year… but they found a way, as they have all year. They are 20-4, 11-0 in the MAC and Coach Box doesn’t have to answer stupid questions.
You haven’t watched them until tonight? The hype is real. I suggest you keep watching because this team is doing great things.
It is fair to say we played poorly. We did. I have watched every minute of every WBB game and some in person. And if you read my game threads comments, I call it as I see it. I am no homer. But the tenor of your comments is a bit unfair. This team is 11-0 and 20-4 overall. They deserve a lot more credit than you are giving them seeing as how you have admittedly only watched one game. Full disclosure-I am friends with Glenn Box.
And this team you think is so bad and un-deserving of your watching them the rest of the year had a NET of 75 going into this game. There aren’t many mid majors above that. Ball State is one at 68 and Miami beat them soundly just recently.
And the refs were not good. WMU’s coach bitched up a storm in one sequence in the second half and then the refs called 4 successive fouls on Miami. So I guess her bitching worked.,
That game was the classic definition of simply survive and advance.
Thanks for quitting on Miami University!
Refs completely disrupted Miami’s game flow. Beyond that I won’t say anything else. Other than if you have seen 12 minutes of Miami women’s basketball this year and how you are boycotting the team, are you really a fan anyway?
19goskins: if I decided to stop watching the men’s team after they played a subpar game this year, I’d be missing a lot of good basketball. The women’s team plays fundamentally as solid, and often more consistently, than the men’s. Women don’t have the athleticism of men, but they play with the same high basketball IQ and fire in the belly.
Yes all kinds of issues with the WMU game but good teams find a way to win. The most concerning thing about last night,s game to me was how weak our bench is - only Taylor appears to be able to score and play some quality minutes. Box should use the portal for next year. to get better depth. Further playing our starters as many minutes as he does increases injury risks. All that said congrats on a great season to date.
Yep, I ripped up my diploma, turned off all scheduled financial contributions and now refuse to watch any Miami sporting events based on what I saw last night. Just “quit” on the entire University I love!
Obviously I say that in jest. But that is also a ridiculous accusation you chose to make. I greatly enjoyed watching our field hockey team play last season and have rabidly cheered for football, hoops and especially hockey for decades. Maybe it’s because I hadn’t watched mid major women’s basketball in years, but the 12 minutes I viewed last night had an entertainment value akin to rearranging my sock drawer. I hope our team wins out and makes the Sweet 16. But seeing horrible basketball (bad turnovers, air balls being chucked up and lots of fouls) isn’t something I will invest my finite amount of time doing. And I certainly hope Coach Box just had a TV answer (the first question was ridiculous) and told the team how poorly they played and how much they need to improve down the stretch, instead of praising their perseverance.
But “quitting on Miami University”? Not at all accurate.
You still have to admit that basing your view of the program on 12 minutes of viewing is stupid.
I view the program the same as I did before watching the first 12 minutes in a very long time. Which is to say that after years of on and off court embarrassment, they are having a fantastic season and I hope it continues.
But it confirmed to me why I haven’t been watching.
Some things are better kept to yourself, my man. Unless you love being the wet blanket, which it seems like you may.
