The bench always stands and gets excited when we are playing well. Just haven’t had a good start for several weeks.
at the 8 and under TO, Zips are up 17-16. We have not scored in the last 7 or 8 possessions. We are shooting 3’s, but not really good looks. Early we were moving the ball and people, that is bogging down now.

26-22 Zips at the 4 and under TO. Defensive struggle so far. Both teams struggling to get good looks. Lots of effort on D.
Miami doesn’t get called for clock shot violations very often.
30-27 Akron at the half. What you can see is that the team has changed the lineup and style, as much as they can. You kind of expect that when we lost our best rebounder and a really good scorer in Brown, and have had none of the other bigs step up in his place. We have not played a single minute with one of our 4 men. Williams has shot poorly but has defended well and he is guarding Ali Ali, at 6-8 and the Zips leading scorer. Dae Dae and Mekhi, who is looking better, have done most of the scoring. We need Williams and ICL to hit some perimeter shots.
Almost feels like we’re winning.

We guarded them pretty well in the 1st half. We only gave up 1 offensive rebound and forced 6 turnovers which are really good numbers for us. Offensively, when we get open looks, we need to take advantage. This feels like a 2000s style Miami/Akron game, you better make your open looks.
Haven’t been watching, but Lairy’s stats look pretty good considering he’s not 100%.
He looks OK to me tonight. Seems to be moving freely and I have not seen any wincing or rubbing the back. Lairy and Dae Dae have taken 60% of our shots and scored 19 of the 27 points. None of the other guys has much ability to create a shot for themselves, so they kind of have to do it as Akron is really good defensively, not just tonight but every game. It would really help if Williams or Coleman Lands would hit some shots.

38-37 Akron at the 15 and under TO…ICL and Williams did both hit a 3. Akron is going to Ali and Freeman and backing us down and using their height and leaping ability. I wonder if Jack will double down and give up some open 3’s to stop the layups.
Miami has three free throws. They make it hard on themselves.

Ball doesn’t lie.
46 -37 Akron. TO Miami. Akron has gotten every loose ball under our basket this half, we got them all in the first half.
Akron does a great job of defending the three point line.
50-39 Akron TO, about 10 minutes to go. Akron has played better offense this half, concentrating on getting it inside where they have a big advantage. Freeman is having his way with both Precious and Eli.

Lairy’s plus/minus can’t be good tonight (again). He’s a liability defensively and our offense hasn’t functioned as well when he’s been in the game. We need to play our starting 5 from tonight more.

We actually have looked decent at times. A few rushed threes and a couple of mistakes on D. Getting pummeled inside. Our best five gives up size but I would go w them.
54-44 with 7 minutes to go.
