I saw everyone posting about going to practice. I got the invite too. What a nice thing to do for your tickets holders. I sent an email to Coach Richburg and he replied right away. I look forward to meeting the coaches and players.
I went to a practice when I was a student. Back then, Jerry Peirson was the coach. Eddie Shilling was one of the stars of the team.

That’s a fair way to put it. IMO Miami should be pushing for something closer to the Mills Morgan Center at Wright State, which is already 18 years old. It’s a functioning court and the tight intimacy gives it some charm if you’re coming to watch practice.
From what I’ve heard, coach Steele has prioritized updating the practice gym and has said similar things- it’s a fine facility that just needs a little TLC.
Now the main part Millett, that’s another story…

Pretty obvious from this instagram story that Safford is not with the team right now for some reason. I’ve debated this with some members of the board in private (and obviously I hope I’m wrong) but, to me, this is a huge loss.

Indeed. When you lose the “heart and soul” of the team (not my words, but I agree), it’s pretty bad.
I can’t give much of a report as I only caught the last 2:30 of the scrimmage but I can tell you Team White won 34-31. Kristian Smith was was animated to say the least! “I told you we would win, I told you!” Repeatedly yelled several times. Looked like several recruits were in attendance. From what little I saw, this team will be competitive (although sorely missing Safford if he doesn’t play) with many movable parts. Certainly a deep team. I talked briefly with Coach Steele and Carl Richburg after the scrimmage. Both were very pleased with the effort and the play.

Maybe Morgan is back and just had some academic stuff to deal with. He’s a good kid and has proven to be a very hard worker. Let’s not count him out just yet.
Isn’t there a 15 player roster limit, or am I just imagining that? If Safford isn’t with the team, that would explain the new walk on.
He’s still hanging around the team, so entirely possible he’s back later this semester, after this semester finishes in mid-December and/or elects the Covid option and comes back for another year next season. Still plenty of hope we will see mo Mo Safford in a Miami uniform.
I believe Kamari Williams returned in mid-Dec last season after working through an issue of credits not transferring iirc.

I think this is probably all true, but doesn’t take away from the disappointment of not having him for the first half of the season.

Played on the sub floor gym a few times many many years ago in Miami summer hoops camp…looks pretty much the same.
