Football portal 2024/25

That is a really good look at NIL recruiting. We have been pretty successful so far and have figured out several of the ideas Brown has pointed out. We have signed a really talented group for next year, but other than Finn most of that is based on hs recruiting rankings. Finn is a proven star and just a tremendous asset for next year. Several of the guys have multiple years of eligibility and if they work out will become AllMAC guys. Like a Rashad Amos they may leave again for money, or like an Ugwu may give us several great seasons. Probably not all will work out for various reasons, Kopp, for instance, was a guy that we had recruited out of high school and really liked. Hope he finally gets his shot at Houston Christian.

Rashod was overrated. I’m hopeful that Miami will actually compete on an NIL going forward with the blue bloods. I think they will.

@CBusHawk Rashod was overrated from what perspective? As a MAC running back he was not overrated. As an SEC back, he was.

Had to take a break for a minute. And I do appreciate the love. I think I momentarily fulfilled my duties as an antagonist on a sports’ message board; however, Amos is not a great running back, Grumpy. As I recall he had minimal carries in the SEC so I’m not even sure how one can gauge him based upon his experience there. Hence, my opinion he’s overrated regardless. But he’s in the past.

Most excited about this young crop of RB’s: Ringer (was a Mr. Indiana finalist), D’Shawntae Jones (relative of Cardale from powerhouse Glenville); and Tito Glass, Jr. who tore things up in Cbus. There’s others. Amongst upperclassmen, Brunson should be a good power back, but the future is bright, mi amigos (i.e. those who are still not deported).

Peace and Love. Love and Honor.

Looked it up: 9 carries in the SEC. So how can you say, Grumpy, that he was only overrated there? If anything, maybe he was underrated in the SEC as he never had a chance, right? But my opinion is predicated upon Amos being a product of a fantastic offensive line without a passing game after BG was done (during apparently the year of mediocre football in the MAC). Grumpy, I think you should be an Ohio State fan.

Peace and Love. Love and Honor.

I think as a sports’ message board antagonist you’re overrated.

How does that make him overrated? With no real threat of a passing game, defenses could just stack the box against the run. If anything that makes the performances of the OL and Amos even more impressive in the second half of that season.

Played four years for the Fighting Irish, including his freshman year. (Presume he has one year of eligibility left but not sure about that). Must have been a pretty heralded recruit initially as he saw action as a frosh.

His play was limited in 2023 due to an injury.

He has 21 receptions over all four years, including 5 last year. He did see action in every game this past season. Also had a tackle here and there so assume he was on special teams as well. According to article I read he was utilized primarily in the slot position in run heavy package. He did have one TD reception as well.

Looks like a very good get for us!

We now have a colossal amount of depth at WR. My theory: those who don’t start or play special teams could be converted to cornerbacks depending on their size/willingness. Might even give them a better shot at the next level. See exhibit A: Quentin Rollins. Chuck only had one year to work with him and he became a second round draft pick.

I like our portal adds but I do find the position allocation to be unusual.

Maybe Yellow is correct in that he could also be looked at for DB. But never hurts to be deep at wideout. Who knows??

That is awesome transfer add. He is 6’4” and about 211.

Out of HS…
4 star
94
National 117
WR 14
From GA - had multiple offers including Alabama, TN, Penn State, Oregon, and the list goes on….

Wow! Perhaps he could be more of a possession receiver with that height and size. (Also could be used for our offensive coordinator’s favourite goal line play call of an end zone corner fade route). You got a figure one day we will complete such a pass.:joy:

1 catch for 4 yards in the most important game of the season.

From HS:

"Projects as a multi-year starter at the Power Five level with the upside of developing into an NFL Draft pick. "

Is success of Red Brick Legacy driving the assembly of a rather handsome transfer portal class?
