Dom Dzioban has been named a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist!

The three finalists are Aidan Birr (Georgia Tech), Kansei Matsuzawa (Hawaii), and Tate Sandell (Oklahoma).

Matsuzawa, as noted above, finished 25/26 on the season. His 25 made FGs were the most in the country. Going into last weekend’s games, Birr and Sandell were tied for second at 22 made FGs apiece. Sandell, notably, was 7/7 from 50+ and 4/4 from 55+. Birr also hit a 55-yarder, and three of his kicks were game-winning/tying as time expired.

Sucks Dom isn’t there at the end, but I can’t say the three they chose are unworthy.

If Dom can’t win it then I hope Matsuzawa does

I think he gets a few calls for camps. He’s very talented and high character

His ability to punt as well is a wild card. It would be a small factor but a team would have to be excited that in the event of a mid-game injury to their punter they had Dom on the team.

They could draft him and have the option to do either, Pat Mcafee was a kicker in college and became a pro bowl punter
