Coach Martin Presser-Must Watch!

Those are fantastic comments by Coach Martin. Spot on.

  1. Where do you find that $2-$3m?
  2. What conference do you want to move to? Miami as a brand is not a state flagship, and, unlike SMU, we can’t afford to say, “Don’t pay us anything.”
  3. That’s a great idea, although as a donor, it would be a low priority for me. I still see Miami as an academic institution, and if I had the money, I would want to support increasing academic excellence. That’s not to say that I have any objection to any donor who makes that their priority.
  4. With the House settlement, aren’t all scholarships funded now? I know that there is a maximum roster size. How many scholarships does Miami offer? How many scholarships do they provide that are below the limit? How many scholarships are funded in the P4 schools?

Ultimately, let’s win the MAC every year and be authentic to ourselves. I don’t think joining another conference is realistic because we are not a good candidate, and the costs would be astronomical.

I think we are very lucky to have Coach Martin leading our team. He gets Miami and has wholeheartedly embraced who we are and the type of players he, and we, want. Winning is important to him as it is to all of us. He makes sure that we get players who will play well, but also represent the university and the team, in a positive way.
The best indication of how his players, and their parents, feel about him, one only needs to see young men whose brother or who was once a teammate who now plays for Miami come here. The McEWoods. The Tracys. The Yarboroughs. Mychal Yharborough’s younger brother is coming from Belleville, Mi along with two of his teammates. They excelled playing for one of the best programs in the country. IIRC, they lost 3-4 games in the last five years. They all had other G5/P2 offers. They are winners.
How many times has a player been involved in situation that reflects poorly upon the team and the school? Way back to the frat rumble? How many before and since? I know they all aren’t monks. Maybe things happened and was buried. But an arrest/conviction is tough to hide.
And it’s great that some of the guys who went the portal route now advise our players not to jump. Should help us retain our best players. Which is a very good thing.
Go 'Hawks! Love and honor.

How much does you think Brick Street makes in 4.5 hours of beat-the-clock during a big sports game? The NIL collective will be getting 10% of that this Saturday.

I once heard from someone that brick was forced to close for 30 mins, and Will, the owner, was pissed about losing thousands

I’d say wins over UC and the B1G bottom dwellers, the occasional top 25 sniff.

I used to drink delicious natty light all afternoon for a grand total of about $6 given those beat the clock prices. Hopefully the students are drinking high noons
