Random thoughts: Brown was clutch. 24 points, 7 rebounds, and only 1 turnover… Brown, Grant, and Lairy accounted for 63 of 85 points…NI bench outscores Miami bench 35-9… The difference? Perhaps 3-point shots (11-21 vs. 8-21).

Props to him, early looked disinterested or struggling, who knows…but dropped what we need from him quite honestly each time we play a good team.

That said our defensive #s still look terrible…50+% for NIU.

This is amazing. Does hockey play tnite? St the rate things are going we will prolly win!!!

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

Nope. I’m calling my shot. If hockey plays tonight (and I think they do) I predict a win. Up is down and left is right. It makes too much sense.

I just checked, and they lost 8-0. Better than last night I guess.

At least my prediction was spot on.

How do you figure?

I was kidding. Apparently the insanity that is the rest of my sports world doesn’t apply to hockey.

Great comeback win. But the team defense is absolutely horrendous, and getting worse. Miami ranks 292nd (out of 358) in Ken Pomeroy’s Adj Defense rankings. That’s flat unacceptable.

We’re also top 50 in points per game. Granted, that’s with an easy schedule, and yes, our D needs to improve, but in the meantime, a decent offense can cover up some defensive blemishes. That said, we need to clean it up on the defensive end, because it’s doubtful our offense can maintain this.

True, our offense ranks nicely. We’re currently 88th nationally in Pomeroy’s Adjusted Offense rankings. The problem, as we’ve seen, is offense can slump, but good defense (usually) does not. Add in that we’re a jump-shooting dependent team and it’s not a good recipe for grinding out wins in March.
