Yeah, I think especially if we have any kind of larger group, we’ll want a reservation for dinner. We discovered the hard way in Portugal a few years ago that reservations were necessary there even just for two people on a random Wednesday night. My guess is that you probably don’t need to make a reservation super far ahead of time, but at least a few days in advance is probably good.
(And I would love to get together for dinner Friday and/or Saturday nights in between games!)
Between Games on Saturday works best for us. We’re going to squeeze in a visit to Titanic Belfast between games on Friday. The rink and the Titanic are just a 10 minute walk apart.
I found this CBC documentary on YouTube. It was apparently produced in about 2004, maybe four years before my son played the Belfast Junior Giants over there with his Eaglebrook School team. It seems hockey became a unifying force in Belfast sports culture as opposed the historic polarization between the area’s football teams. Great watch!
It’s def worth the watch, especially for those of us going over. One of the best moments in it for me is near the end when both the boys’ moms are sitting together at the rink cheering their kids on!
(Also, I did not get nearly enough sleep, for which I blame certain parties who shall remain nameless at this time. Who may or may not be in the below photo at the first bar that we closed down last night )
