And I want to give OU credit for that kickoff return for a TD. I don’t know if that was a called play or Bangura improvised, but it was brilliant and caught Miami completely off guard.
Our kickoff team needs to be revamped. Gave up a ton of yards to WMU last game and a TD tonight. Can’t have that happen
Certainly a big difference between the Bronk coached ST teams and this one. You are correct.
Our ST gave up 10 points - the kick off team has been bad for the last two weeks - definite need for correction here. I agree with you re our failure not to use our TE- I believe the problem is our OL has problems and he is needed to block.
D’Shawntae Jones needs more carries.
Agree. I feel bad for Adam. That’s what’s so maddening about it. It was so unintentional on an otherwise great effort.
Most people don’t remember this but he scored on a three yard run against Rutgers on his very first carry as a RedHawk. He is a force. Should have scored a touchdown for us on the first red zone drive.
The first half felt like early rounds on a boxing match where both teams were just kind of throwing minor jabs. What I don’t get is why we didn’t try to throw a haymaker early. Go crazy right from the start. If you make a mistake you have 3 quarters to make up for it. The point would be to put them on their heels immediately. Instead it always feels like we play not to lose. I know that’s not true, but… I burned a free 5-day Fubo trial on it.
My wife and I went to the game from Cincinnati but I don’t know if we will be returning in two years. The trip is gorgeous. The southeast quadrant of the state really is Ohio’s most scenic.
Culturally it is a little different. We passed by signs for Gravel Washer Rd., Burnt Cabin and Measly Rds. At one point we passed over Raccoon Creek which should not be confused with Little Raccoon Creek we passed 15 minutes earlier. Apparently Truman Rd runs through MacArthur Village. I can only imagine that is a rough stretch of highway.
Athens itself was wonderful as well. While the game was a disappointment I would never let that effect my decision to attend future contests. Having multiple students and “grownups” get in my face and yell Fuck Miami may. No less than a dozen times the entire student section chanted Fuck Miami as well.
While I appreciate and admire the great turnout and fan support, the profanities and personal attacks crossed a line for me. I hope that we have a similar turnout but far more class when OU comes to Oxford next year. God I would love to beat those guys in Detroit!
I do not normally use profanities in posts but it would have seemed ridiculous not to quote them accurately.
Worth noting is that the OU ticket office has a practice that needs correcting. We were sold, from Ohio, tickets in their student section. Those tickets should never have been available.
My gf, now wife, and I went to Athens to see Ben play when I was a freshman in 03. I thought we got lost at one point. I love the SE part of the state.
If you were to give the state of Ohio an enema, McArthur would be the point of insertion.
Devil Mom lives there. So did I for the early part of my childhood. When I used to write that I’m from a family that is Appalachian at the bone, that wasn’t bullshit
It sounds like OU screwed up putting visiting fans in the student section. But I’d love to see enough drunk college kids show up at Yager on a Tuesday night to have similar complaints flowing the other way. We can work on deportment lessons later.
The level of support was great. Attendance was listed as 22,231. After the first quarter we moved from our purchased ticket location to the “grownup" side but we encountered some challenges there as well.
