New promo idea
Didnât Kuwatch come from Ohio State?
Looks like he did. But he plays for Miami now and thatâs what matters.
I believe he was a walk on at Ohio State
I thinks itâs an interesting idea. Ohio State isnât giving us anyone in their top 75 probably - theyâd want complete depth. But the bottom 15 scholarship players, (and some walkons) may benefit from MAC playing time. We may benefit from their services. And OSU may benefit from them developing with additional PT at Miami. So itâs potentially a win-win-win there.
The question becomes - âwhat would it be better for the OSU kid to go to Miami as opposed to going to any other school via the portal?â The answer would likely have to be, âbecause Ohio State is funding their NIL even though they are at another schoolâ because of some arrangement that would have to be in place. Iâm sure there are a lot of red flags, and red tape. And certainly there are plenty of holes to poke in the idea. But it is an interesting idea.
Itâd be even cooler if it were buffalo (bison) meat
As crazy as it sounds, this is pretty similar to the model of global soccer. Very common for a big team to own the rights to a young talent and loan them out to smaller clubs in smaller leagues where they will get playing time to develop. Big clubs also usually have second teams that play in lower divisions to play their prospects.
Still donât think it could happen in college sports unless it fully professionalizes with actual contracts for playing rights that can be traded/sold. But even that seems alot more possible than it did a decade ago.
Rice goes for the emergency free beer promotion that every school knows they have in their back pocket:
They should give out free packets of Uncle Benâs.
These schools all miss the obvious.
nah, they should hand out Costco-size bags of rice. Feed students for a whole semester!
If two free drink tickets is what it takes for Miaminthrn letâs do it
Not too expensive either with how small Riceâs student population is. Miami would cost more but itâs not like weâre OSU-sized.
Imo our admin is too risk-averse to student drinking to go for something like that. Thereâs a debate to be had on the universityâs role in preventing alcohol issues, but theyâve always seemed conservative on it to try keeping party culture from getting out of control.
Except for the one person who scheduled GBD as a âwellnessâ day with no classes in 2021 when there wasnât a traditional spring break due to COVID.
