Attendance woes

Gotta say the OU crowd was more lively than any Maction game in Oxford I can remember in recent history. Not saying Miami should copy Ohio, but they should definitely take some notes on how to draw a crowd for a Tuesday night game…

Email just came in for Miami trying to lure familes to the game on Saturday of Thanksgiving. They seem to be trying a little at least.

Visit MiamiRedHawks.com/Promos and use code HOME4THEHOLIDAYS for an exclusive ticket deal — 4 tickets for $44.

I hope the game is not at noon (OSU/Michigan).

What time do you think it should be? You think people are going to watch OSU vs Michigan from noon to 330 and be like lets hop in the car and drive to Oxford for a 6pm game?

i think the best bet is just play it at the time Miami wants and hope Miami fans show up

Hope. Exactly.

Look, we’ve tried normal times such as Saturday afternoon. Low turnout. Even on a pretty day. We got duped by espn into middle of the week time filler nonsense and no one watches or goes. Maybe it’s time to try games from 12-5am after the students are at the bar. No one’s ever done that.

F the F-eyes with a big bold capital F. If you’re a Redhawk fan and can get to the game then just go to the damn game.

Don’t stay home to watch the semi pro F-eyes.

If it’s 20 degrees out with blowing snow and you don’t want to go that’s understandable. If it’s 40 degrees and a bit nippy put on your #2 favorite Miami sweatshirt over your fav Miami gear and get your ass to the game.

Period! L+H!

Hopefully 20,000 fans will heed your advice!

As for us, family from Pittsburgh and Michigan coming in, so we’ll stay put!

Attendance was listed as 10,825 for last night’s game. While that is far less than most of us hope for, it is far more than most of our MACTION games historically.

They didnt show the crowd much last night but at one point it looked like the student crowd was the typical number (except for tailgate day and parents day)

Through 5 games we have averaged 11,762. The 6,800 for a dry Saturday in October vs. EMU is the real outlier. Other that the numbers are well within Miami’s historical norms.

Sad.

Old Miami Field had a capacity of about 15K. Unfortunately, that would have worked this season. Plus, the old scoreboard clock would have been quite the talking point for ESPN!

No way that is over 10K.

I believe it would be based in tickets sold and someone said student tickets downloaded. I spent a lot of time looking at the website before the game and I would bet 3-5k tickets sold were not used on the alumni side

The ticket map was showing well more than 2/3rd tickets sold in sections 3-4-5 and those sections total about 2250 each. Plus there was probably another 1000 tickets sold in sections 1-2-6-7. So I bet there was about 6,000 non student ticket sold. They count the band - the cheerleaders- the dance teams- so I am guessing students side was 1,000-1,500?

So I am guessing 7,500 would have been a legitimate number- but maybe a lot of student groups registered but only a few attended
