Note: Miami (Ohio) is 20-0, but its strength of schedule is 332nd in the country. Its best win was a 3-point home win over Akron. The RedHawks are a great story, but I’m not sure that I will rank them at any point this year. Being undefeated is cool and all, but you have to put it into context.
I’m so over the SOS discussion. Yes, it’s terrible. We know that. But just because you have a weak schedule, that doesn’t mean you can’t also be very good. Last two results not withstanding, we’ve been blowing people out. Look how we pass the ball. We have incredibly talented shooters. We’re not selfish. Don’t discount a team just because they have a poor SOS.

Also, if it had just been the schedule why aren’t there a bunch of mid-majors with undefeated records (and poor SOS ratings)?
Look at the 2006-07 Akron team. The non-Brons thought they were God’s gift to MAC basketball, had a terrible OOC schedule… and had 4 losses at this point in the season.
There’s only 10 teams with undefeated conference records right now. That’s the schedule no one can control. I don’t care who you are or what league you play in, its impressive to be 8-0, saying nothing of 20-0. In the MAC especially, where there isn’t a dominant team or two at the top like most 1 bid leagues, its even more impressive.
Its so challenging to play these teams that know you well and not come out flat a single game. Some will look at OT games against Kent and UB and say “see, that shows they aren’t that good” whereas I look at those games and say “see, that shows how good they are that they can find a way to win an off night like that”.

Watch us one time. Just once and you will know that this team is legit. We’ve been getting everyone’s Super Bowl game for the last month and it doesn’t matter. The result is inevitable.
